The Tektronix TDS 600B Series is a family of Digital Real-Time oscilloscopes built around Tektronix's Digital Real-Time architecture, which is designed to simplify capturing intermittent signals and non-recurring events such as glitches or metastable states caused by setup-and-hold-time violations. The series provides design engineers with single-shot accuracy for multi-channel, high-speed signal characterization.

An oscilloscope displays electrical signals as waveforms—voltage plotted against time—making signal amplitude, timing, and shape directly visible on screen. The TDS 600B Series is applied to digital design characterization and verification, telecommunications and datacommunications work, transient event capture, and high energy physics. Tektronix positions the architecture for high-bandwidth design problems such as crosstalk noise, transmission effects, ground bounce, and sub-nanosecond edges.

ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. That combination lets engineers source both new and verified used test equipment from a single accountable supplier.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The TDS 600B Series groups five Digital Real-Time oscilloscopes—the TDS 684B, TDS 680B, TDS 644B, TDS 620B, and TDS 640A—under a shared architecture that targets high-speed, single-shot signal characterization. The models share 8-bit vertical resolution (greater than 11 bits with averaging), advanced waveform DSP, and a common standard I/O set of RS-232, Centronics, GPIB, and VGA.

Where the models diverge is in real-time bandwidth, sample rate, channel count, and display type. The series spans 500 MHz and 1 GHz bandwidths, 2 GS/s to 5 GS/s sample rates, and two- or four-channel configurations offered in monochrome or color.

Each model in the series is listed below as its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the pre-owned configuration that fits your bandwidth, sample-rate, and channel requirements, and compare the per-model specifications in the table that follows.

The TDS 684B is the four-channel color configuration rated at 1 GHz real-time bandwidth and 5 GS/s on all channels simultaneously, with time-measurement accuracy specified at under 50 ps typical at 5 GS/s single shot.

The 1 GHz bandwidth and 5 GS/s sample rate belong to the TDS 684B and TDS 680B, while the TDS 644B, TDS 620B, and TDS 640A provide 500 MHz bandwidth. Sample rates step from 2 GS/s on the TDS 640A to 2.5 GS/s on the TDS 620B and TDS 644B and 5 GS/s on the TDS 680B and TDS 684B. Channel counts and display type vary as well, as detailed in the comparison table.

Record length per channel reaches 15,000 points on the TDS 684B, TDS 680B, TDS 644B, and TDS 620B, while the TDS 640A provides up to 2,000 points. Peak detect and channel deskew are available across the series except on the TDS 640A. Refer to the table for each model's exact bandwidth, sample rate, channel count, record length, and standard probe set.

Model Bandwidth Sample Rate Channels
TDS 620B 500 MHz 2.5 GS/s 2
TDS 684B 1 GHz 5 GS/s 4
TDS 680B 1 GHz 5 GS/s 2
TDS 644B 500 MHz 2.5 GS/s 4

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
