The Extech MO55W is a wireless datalogging pin/pinless moisture meter that lets you measure the moisture content in wood and other building materials using your choice of the Pinless (non-invasive) method or the Direct Pin method. With its wireless feature, the Bluetooth Datalogging Module, and the free ExView W-Series App, it transmits readings in real time to a smart device, stores over 15,000 readings for wireless transfer to generate a report or data analysis, and lets you add notes and readings to photos taken with the smart device camera. The meter is simple to operate, uses icons to indicate moisture content, and alerts you when moisture levels exceed programmed limits. The Pinless method allows non-invasive scanning of a surface, while the Direct Pin method takes a localized reading through two contact pins.
A moisture meter quantifies how much moisture is held within a material so a technician can judge whether it is within an acceptable range before finishing, sealing, or further work. The MO55W is ideal for building restoration and other applications where it is critical to detect moisture in flooring, tiles, and beneath carpeting. It reads moisture in materials such as wall board, sheet rock, cardboard, plaster, concrete, and mortar, in addition to wood.
