The R3265A/3365A Series spectrum analyzers combine a large-sized CRT display in a portable unit with a wide frequency range, measuring from 100 Hz to 8 GHz in a single sweep. A high-purity synthesizer gives the series excellent spectral purity of -110 dBc/Hz at 2.6 GHz at a 10 kHz offset frequency, supporting precise characterization of signals across the full span.
The series performs especially well measuring the spurious emission intensity of mobile communications equipment, occupied frequency bandwidth, and signal leakage from adjacent channels. In low-noise mode its input sensitivity reaches -145 dBm from 1 MHz to 3.6 GHz, allowing low-level signals to be measured easily. Typical applications include monitoring the mean transmission power and duration of Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) signals such as those used in GSM systems, and analyzing the noise in a single horizontal line of a TV signal.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every used unit we sell is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. Holding inventory under our own roof lets our Test Architects confirm availability and condition directly and ship quickly.
The R3265A/3365A Series consists of two spectrum analyzer models that share a 100 Hz to 8 GHz frequency range, 10 Hz to 3 MHz resolution bandwidths, and -145 dBm low-noise sensitivity, packaged in a portable unit with a large CRT display. Both models include an internal preselector along with the series' standard gated sweep, BASIC controller, and memory card functions.
The two models are distinguished primarily by the tracking generator: the R3365A includes a built-in tracking generator while the R3265A does not. The comparison table below details the configuration of each model.
Each model in the series is listed on its own product page with pre-owned-condition pricing matched to that unit. Select the model that fits your measurement requirements, then choose the listing that matches the condition and configuration you need.
A low-frequency preselector has been added to the R3265A, enabling a dynamic range of 100 dB and higher for carrier waves of 250 MHz and above.
The principal difference across the series is the tracking generator. The R3365A adds a built-in tracking generator covering 100 kHz to 3.6 GHz with an output level of -3 to -30 dBm in 0.1 dB steps, making it suited to measuring frequency characteristics when setting up or maintaining digital radio base stations. The R3265A is supplied without a tracking generator.
The R3365A also adds a Power Sweep Function, which sweeps the tracking generator output level across a 30 dB range in 0.1 dB steps for high-precision measurement of amplifier input/output characteristics such as the 1 dB gain compression point. Refer to the comparison table for the per-model configuration.
| Model | Frequency Range | Tracking Generator | Resolution Bandwidth |
|---|---|---|---|
| R3365A | 100 Hz to 8 GHz | 100 kHz to 3.6 GHz | 10 Hz to 3 MHz |
| R3265A | 100 Hz to 8 GHz | None | 10 Hz to 3 MHz |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Modulation accuracy measurement requires the R3541A/B Digital Modulation Analysis Unit, which is sold separately; the analyzer includes a built-in digital modulation analysis interface for connecting it.
Important: Internal preselector operates from 500 Hz (per the Selection Guide note).
