View full details

The B&K Precision XLN Series is a family of programmable single-output DC power supplies delivering up to 1560 W of clean power in a compact 1U rackmountable package. The series spans seven models covering high-current configurations from 0–36 V at 40 A through 0–100 V at 14.4 A, and high-voltage configurations from 5–150 V at 10.4 A through 5–600 V at 2.6 A. Unlike comparable system supplies that primarily address the ATE market, the XLN series is designed to serve both benchtop users and system integrators in a single platform.

According to the datasheet, the XLN series is suited for ATE systems integration, product design and development, product QC and burn-in testing, and other applications requiring excellent regulation, high power, low noise, and a wide range of voltage and current ratings. The current-flow timer feature enables accurate measurement of fuse or circuit breaker opening times, with resolution to the nearest 100 microseconds and a maximum counting period of one hour.

Brand Heritage

B&K Precision Corporation is a long-established U.S.-based manufacturer of electronic test and measurement instruments. The company has operated under the B&K Precision name through its modern history and continues to release new test instrument families, including the XLN Series of programmable DC power supplies covered in this datasheet.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The XLN Series spans seven models organized into two configuration groups: four high-current models (XLN3640, XLN6024, XLN8018, XLN10014) delivering 1440 W in output ranges from 0–36 V/40 A through 0–100 V/14.4 A, and three high-voltage models (XLN15010, XLN30052, XLN60026) delivering 1560 W in output ranges from 5–150 V/10.4 A through 5–600 V/2.6 A. Each model is available with standard USB and RS485 interfaces, or in a -GL variant that adds LAN and GPIB.

Beyond the output voltage and current envelope, the two configuration groups differ in feature set. High-current models include a fixed 5 V / 1 A auxiliary output, 1 mV / 1 mA display resolution, and support master/slave operation in both parallel and series configurations. High-voltage models offer 10 mV / 1 mA display resolution, master/slave parallel operation only, and add analog monitoring outputs alongside the analog programming interface.

Each new XLN model below is listed on its own product page with condition-matched pricing, configuration details, and current availability. Select the model that matches the voltage and current envelope your application requires.

The primary axis of differentiation across the XLN Series is the output voltage and current envelope, which determines the application class the model is built for. The four high-current models sit at 1440 W and target lower-voltage, higher-current applications. The three high-voltage models sit at 1560 W and target higher-voltage, lower-current applications including testing of higher-voltage power electronics, batteries, and electric vehicle subsystems.

Programming and readback resolution, ripple and noise, OVP adjustment range, transient response, and remote sense compensation also scale with model. The comparison table that follows summarizes the headline specifications side by side so the correct model for a given output envelope can be confirmed at a glance.

Model Output Voltage Output Current Output Power
XLN10014-GL 0-100 V 0-14.4 A 1440 W
XLN3640 0-36 V 0-40 A 1440 W
XLN3640-GL 0-36 V 0-40 A 1440 W
XLN6024 0-60 V 0-24 A 1440 W

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
