The B&K Precision 9830B Series is a family of programmable AC power sources housed in a 3U form factor, providing AC, DC, and AC+DC output capability for compliance testing, power line disturbance simulation, and end-product evaluation. The series consists of the 9832B at 2000 VA and the 9833B at 3000 VA per unit. Both models offer selectable low and high voltage ranges up to 300 V rms (AC) or ±424 V DC, with single-phase frequency operation from 45 Hz to 1.2 kHz.
Per the datasheet, the 9830B Series is applied to pre-compliance testing, simulation of grid faults, voltage sags, frequency disturbances, and phase disturbances per IEC 61000-4-11/14/28/34, electromagnetic compatibility testing per IEC 61000-3-2, consumer electronics and appliance evaluation, industrial controls, avionics, and evaluation of transformers, TRIACs, SCRs, and passive components. The high output current crest factor and low input resistance support high inrush current measurements when evaluating capacitive or inductive loads.

The 9830B Series consists of two single-phase programmable AC power sources that share the same form factor, control interface, waveform generation capabilities, measurement set, and remote interface options. The two models differ in maximum output power and rated output current.
Both models offer the same selectable voltage ranges (0–150 V and 0–300 V AC rms, 0–±212 V and 0–±424 V DC), the same single-phase frequency range of 45 Hz to 1.2 kHz, the same 3-phase frequency range of 45 Hz to 600 Hz when configured as a multi-unit system, and the same THD, transient response, and protection specifications. Selection between the 9832B and 9833B is driven by the VA and current required by the load.

The 9832B is rated at 2000 VA maximum output power. Its rated current is 20 A rms on the 0–150 V range and 10 A rms on the 0–300 V range, with peak current of 65 A (<100 Hz) / 50 A (>100 Hz) on the low range and 32.5 A (<100 Hz) / 25 A (>100 Hz) on the high range. DC output is rated 1000 W with 10 A on the low range and 5 A on the high range. The 9832B draws up to 13.2 A at 2500 VA from its AC input.
The 9833B is rated at 3000 VA maximum output power. Its rated current is 30 A rms on the 0–150 V range and 15 A rms on the 0–300 V range, with peak current of 97.5 A (<100 Hz) / 75 A (>100 Hz) on the low range and 48.75 A (<100 Hz) / 37.5 A (>100 Hz) on the high range. DC output is rated 1500 W with 15 A on the low range and 7.5 A on the high range. The 9833B draws up to 20 A at 3800 VA from its AC input.
