The BK Precision 1785A is a programmable DC power supply offering 0–18V output with current capability of 0–5A. It is part of a three-model family — the 1785A, 1786A, and 1787A — that shares a common control architecture and feature set while offering different voltage and current envelopes to match the application. Direct keypad entry allows voltage and current values to be selected quickly and accurately, and the unit displays measured output on integrated LED voltmeter and ammeter readouts.
BK Precision identifies these supplies for use in electronics work, manufacturing, design labs, electronic education, and battery charging. The combination of programmability, preset memory, and in-case calibration makes them suited to environments that need repeatable voltage and current settings across multiple test cycles, whether on a single bench or as part of an automated test routine.
The 1785A, 1786A, and 1787A make up a three-model family of programmable DC power supplies from BK Precision, sharing the same control interface, display, programming features, and chassis. The differentiation between them is the output envelope — each model targets a different voltage and current range while preserving the same programmability, preset memory, and 10-step routine capability across the line.
All three models carry the same metering accuracy of ±(0.5% + 1 digit), the same 1mV RMS ripple and noise specification, and the same 0.02% + 5mV line and load regulation. The choice between them comes down to whether the application calls for higher current at lower voltage, balanced voltage and current, or higher voltage at lower current.

The 1785A sits at the higher-current end of this family, with 0–18V output and 0–5A current capability. This makes it the natural fit when the device under test runs at lower voltage but draws more current — typical of logic-level circuits, low-voltage analog work, and battery charging applications within the supply's voltage range.
The 1785A delivers up to 5A at 18V — the highest current in the family — and is suited to lower-voltage, higher-current loads. The 1786A doubles the voltage range to 30V while dropping current capability to 3A, giving a balanced envelope for general bench work. The 1787A extends voltage further to 60V but reduces current to 1.5A, making it the choice when the application needs the higher voltage and current demands are modest.
The comparison table that follows lists the headline output specifications side by side. Programmability features, accuracy, ripple, regulation, and the physical chassis are identical across the three models — only the voltage and current envelope changes.
