The Keysight N6705C is a DC Power Analyzer mainframe that sources and measures DC voltage and current into a device under test. It combines one to four DC power supplies or electronic loads with a DMM, an oscilloscope, an arbitrary waveform generator, and a data logger in a single integrated instrument, presenting all sourcing or loading and measurement functions from the front panel without requiring any programming.
It is built for R&D testing and design validation. From the front panel an engineer can set up and view turn-on/turn-off sequences, measure and display voltage and current versus time to visualize power into the DUT, control bias-supply or electronic-load ramp-up and ramp-down rates, generate transients and disturbances as arbitrary waveforms, and log data over seconds, minutes, hours, or days to capture current and power consumption or anomalies. A common task is inrush current measurement: triggering the oscilloscope on the DC output's on/off key in single-shot mode captures the current flowing into the DUT as the output turns on. While designed primarily as an R&D bench tool, it is fully programmable and LXI Class C certified, so it is also used in ATE systems for visualizing test results, DUT troubleshooting, and test development.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Working with us means dealing directly with a company that keeps measurement instruments on hand and stands behind their condition.
Keysight Technologies traces its roots to Hewlett-Packard, whose test-and-measurement business was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999. Agilent's electronic measurement division was then established as Keysight Technologies in 2014, the brand under which this product line is offered today.
The N6700 Modular Power System family pairs a mainframe with interchangeable DC power and electronic load modules. The N6705C DC Power Analyzer mainframe has four slots and 600 W of total available power, accepting one to four modules; the N6715C is the same system ordered as a fully assembled, build-to-order instrument with modules pre-installed. The same modules also run in the N6700-series low-profile mainframes used for ATE, allowing test correlation between bench and manufacturing setups.
Modules are grouped into series by role: basic DC power modules (N6730, N6740, N6770), high-performance autoranging modules (N6750), precision modules (N6760), application-specific source/measure units (N6780), and DC electronic loads (N6790). You can invest in high-performance or precision outputs where speed and accuracy matter, or basic outputs for simple DC requirements, and swap or add modules as test needs change.
Each new model linked below is its own product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the mainframe or module that fits your configuration, and review its individual page for the specifications and options that apply to that new unit.
The N6705C is the four-slot DC Power Analyzer mainframe at the center of the system, providing 600 W of total available power, front-panel binding posts rated 20 A per post, 4 gigabytes of internal non-volatile storage, a built-in real-time clock, and power management that allocates mainframe power to the outputs that need it.
The modules differ chiefly in output rating and performance class. Basic modules span 50 W to 300 W with outputs up to 150 V or up to 20 A; high-performance autoranging and precision modules range from 50 W to 500 W up to 60 V and 50 A; the application-specific source/measure units are rated up to 80 W; and the electronic loads provide up to 200 W, 60 V, and 40 A. The ≥300 W high-performance and precision modules and the N6792A load each occupy two of the mainframe's four slots.
Performance features also vary by series: autoranging output is available on the high-performance and precision modules; simultaneous voltage-and-current scope traces and data logging are offered on the precision, SMU, and N6790A modules; and high-speed test extensions are standard on the precision and SMU modules but an option (054) on others. The comparison table that follows lists each model's ratings and available options side by side.
| Model | Output Voltage | Output Current | Output Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| N6705C | — | — | 600 W (total available) |
| N6715C | — | — | 600 W (total available) |
| N6731B | 5 V | 10 A | 50 W |
| N6732B | 8 V | 6.25 A | 50 W |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Series and parallel operation: the maximum series operation is 240 V, and the maximum rated parallel operation is 100 A per N6705 mainframe.
Important: The N6753A–N6756A, N6763A–N6766A, and N6792A modules each occupy two of the four mainframe module slots; all other modules occupy one module slot.
Important: Each N6705C / N6715C mainframe has 4 module slots and provides 600 W total available output power. If the sum of the installed modules' power exceeds the mainframe's available output power, use Keysight's power management capability to allocate mainframe power to the outputs where it is needed.
Important: For modules with outputs rated greater than 20 A, such as the N6753A or N6792A, high current wires must be brought out through the N6705's rear panel.
Important: Option 760 (Output Disconnect/Polarity Reversal Relays) is not available on Models N6741B, N6751A, N6752A, N6761A, and N6762A.
Important: Option 760 limits the output current to 10 A maximum on Models N6742B and N6773A.
Important: Option 2UA (200 µA measurement range) is only available on Models N6761A and N6762A.
Important: For the N6761A–N6766A precision modules and the N6781A/N6782A/N6784A/N6785A/N6786A SMU and N6783A application-specific modules, the performance specification values shown are for the highest output/measurement range; these modules have multiple ranges.
Important: Output current is derated 1% per °C above 40 °C ambient temperature.
Important: When ordering a mainframe and modules separately (Step 1), an appropriate documentation/line cord option must be selected; each item arrives in a separate box for self-assembly. The N6715C is a build-to-order system shipped fully assembled, and at least one module must be ordered with it.
Important: This data sheet does not include a comprehensive list of all power module specifications; complete performance specifications and supplemental characteristics are in the Keysight N6700 Modular Power System Family Specifications Guide, part number N6700-90001.
Recommended pairing: the 14585A Control and Analysis Software controls the family's DC power and electronic load modules installed in up to four N6705 mainframes — up to 16 modules — from a single PC.
