The Keysight FieldFox Handheld Analyzers are portable RF and microwave test instruments engineered for field measurement work where laboratory-grade performance is required outside the lab. The FieldFox family spans nine frequency ceilings from 4 GHz through 50 GHz, with three primary product lines: combination analyzers (N991xA, N995xA series) that integrate Cable and Antenna Test, Vector Network Analyzer, and Spectrum Analyzer functions; dedicated microwave VNAs (N992xA series); and dedicated microwave spectrum analyzers (N993xA, N996xA series). All FieldFox units share a common platform with a 6.5-inch transflective color LCD-LED backlit display sized for outdoor visibility.
FieldFox analyzers are used for cable and antenna testing including distance-to-fault measurements, return loss, and VSWR characterization on transmission lines; vector network analysis with full S-parameter measurement (S11, S21, S22, S12) on RF components; spectrum analysis from 9 kHz (on N995xA/N996xA models) or 100 kHz (on N991xA/N993xA models) through the instrument's maximum frequency; and a range of specialized measurements available through licensed options including real-time spectrum analysis, I/Q analysis, noise figure characterization, vector voltmeter operation, pulse measurements with external USB power sensors, and Over-the-Air cellular measurements (LTE FDD, 5GTF).
The FieldFox product line is a Keysight Technologies platform. Keysight's test and measurement business traces its lineage to Hewlett-Packard's instrument division, which was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999, with the electronic measurement business subsequently separated as Keysight Technologies in 2014. FieldFox analyzers reflect this engineering heritage in their calibration architecture, which is based on the same calibration engine used in Keysight's PNA family of bench network analyzers.
The FieldFox family is organized into three product groupings sharing a common handheld platform. The N991xA combination analyzers (N9913A through N9918A) cover 30 kHz to frequency ceilings of 4, 6.5, 9, 14, 18, and 26.5 GHz, integrating Cable and Antenna Test, Vector Network Analyzer, and Spectrum Analyzer functions in a single unit. The N995xA combination analyzers (N9950A, N9951A, N9952A) extend the same combination architecture upward to 32, 44, and 50 GHz with a starting frequency of 300 kHz (CAT/VNA) or 9 kHz (Spectrum Analyzer).
Two specialized product lines address users whose application is dedicated to a single measurement domain. The N992xA microwave VNAs (N9925A through N9928A) are dedicated vector network analyzers covering 30 kHz through 9, 14, 18, and 26.5 GHz. The N993xA microwave spectrum analyzers (N9935A through N9938A) and N996xA microwave spectrum analyzers (N9960A, N9961A, N9962A) are dedicated spectrum analyzers covering the same frequency tiers as their combination-analyzer counterparts.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with pre-owned-matched pricing. Because FieldFox capability is option-dependent, confirm the model number and the installed option string against the measurement requirement; ValueTronics documents both on every unit we offer.
The primary family differences are frequency ceiling and measurement function set. Combination analyzer models (N991xA, N995xA) support CAT, VNA, and Spectrum Analyzer measurements on a single unit, making them suitable for users who need multiple measurement domains in one instrument. Dedicated VNA models (N992xA) and dedicated Spectrum Analyzer models (N993xA, N996xA) are configured for users whose application is focused on a single measurement type.
Frequency ceiling steps the price tier across the family. Within the combination analyzer line, the N9913A (4 GHz) through N9918A (26.5 GHz) cover the cellular, WiFi, and lower microwave bands; the N9950A through N9952A extend coverage through 50 GHz for millimeter-wave-adjacent applications. The N995xA models also offer broader spectrum analyzer measurement range, with a 9 kHz starting frequency versus 100 kHz on the N991xA. Refer to the comparison table that follows for specific frequency ranges and key spec differences across the family.
