The NI PXI-6251 (Part number: 779631-01, 191325F-13L, 779117-01) PXI Multifunction I/O Module has 8 differential or 16 single-ended analog input channels, two analog output channels, and 24 digital I/O channels. It has a 16-bit analog input resolution. This PXI Multifunction I/O Module is ideal for manufacturing test, research, laboratory automation, and design verification/test. Both high-voltage and sensor features can be added to this module with SCXI or SCC signal conditioning modules. The PXI-6251 can also be used with a 2 m shielded SHC68-68-EPM Cable and a SCB-68 Spring-Screw Terminal Connector Block. The device is equipped with 1 68-pin VHDCI I/O connector. Part number 779117-01 refers to the PXI / SCXI Combo Chassis of the PXI-6251.

This module is not compatible with the traditional NI-DAQ Legacy driver software. When the PXI-6251 module is used with the compatible NI-DAQmx driver software, there are many benefits. NI-DAQmx has features such as automatic timing, triggering, and synchronization routing to simplify difficult applications, numerous free software downloads to help the user begin their application, one programming interface for analog output, analog input, digital I/O, and more. NI-DAQmx allows the user to pick the quickest conceivable change rate considering the speed of the A/D converter and will include 10 μs of fill between each channel to permit a satisfactory set-up time. This plan enables the channels to approach the synchronous testing and still permit enough foundation time. If the sample clock frequency AI is too quick to permit 10 μs to be connected, NI-DAQmx will choose the conversion rate, so the AI Convert Clock pulses are equally divided all through the sample. Also, the PXI-6251 disregards all ai/ConvertClock pulses until it perceives an ai/SampleClock pulse. After the gadget gets the right number of ai/ConvertClock pulses, it ignores subsequent ai/ConvertClock pulses until it gets another ai/SampleClock. The device has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and should be calibrated at least once every 2 years.
