The B&K Precision 2532B is a two-channel digital storage oscilloscope offering 40 MHz of bandwidth, 500 MSa/s real-time sample rate on a single channel, and up to 32,000 points per channel of waveform memory. Within this series, the 2532B is the higher-bandwidth model at 40 MHz with a specified rise time of <8.8 ns and a fastest timebase of 10 ns/DIV. The 2530B is the lower-bandwidth model at 25 MHz with a specified rise time of <14 ns and a fastest timebase of 25 ns/DIV. All other published specifications — sample rate, channel count, memory depth, vertical sensitivity, accuracy, trigger system, math and FFT, digital filtering, pass/fail testing, waveform recorder, display, interfaces, and environmental ratings — are identical between the two models.
The substantive differences between the two models live in three closely related specifications: analog bandwidth (25 MHz vs. 40 MHz), rise time (<14 ns vs. <8.8 ns), and minimum horizontal scan setting (25 ns/DIV vs. 10 ns/DIV). The 2532B's combination of higher bandwidth and faster minimum timebase makes it the better fit for slightly faster digital edges and higher-frequency analog signals; the 2530B is the right choice when the highest-frequency content of interest falls comfortably below the 25 MHz mark and lower-cost coverage is preferred.
