The Rohde & Schwarz vector signal generator portfolio for 5G comprises the R&S SMW200A, R&S SMBV100B, and the R&S SGMA family of compact sources — the R&S SGT100A, R&S SGS100A, and R&S SGU100A. These are 5G-ready solutions for wideband signal generation that range from research and development through to production testing. Across the line, the instruments are built around excellent RF performance out of the box, an intuitive user interface, and a fully flexible hardware and software option concept.
Within this portfolio the generators address wideband signal generation up to millimeterwave frequencies, base station receiver and performance testing, and MIMO and beamforming work. The R&S SMW200A is positioned for the most demanding applications, including integration and verification and conformance testing, while the R&S SGMA sources are aimed at production and automated use and can also serve as RF sources for the R&S SMW200A. Typical 5G tasks the platform supports include beamforming, MIMO, carrier aggregation, and multistandard testing.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, giving buyers a single, accountable source for test and measurement instruments. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
Rohde & Schwarz offers a variety of 5G-ready vector signal generators for wideband signal generation, spanning research and development through production testing. The family includes the R&S SMW200A, the R&S SMBV100B, and the compact R&S SGMA sources — the R&S SGT100A, R&S SGS100A, and R&S SGU100A. Each is built for excellent RF performance out of the box together with a fully flexible hardware and software option concept.
The R&S SMW200A is described as the vector signal generator for the most demanding applications, valued for its flexibility, performance, and intuitive operation when generating complex, digitally modulated signals. The R&S SGMA sources are compact units intended for production and automated use, and can also act as RF sources feeding the R&S SMW200A.
Each pre-owned model in this family is listed on its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Use the comparison below to identify the specific model that fits your frequency, bandwidth, and output requirements, then open that model's page to view its pre-owned availability.
The R&S SMW200A stands out within the family for its dual-path capability and one-box flexibility: it offers 1 or 2 RF outputs, an optional real-time fading simulator and AWGN generator for base station performance testing, and serves as the platform for advanced power amplifier development with digital predistortion.
The models differ primarily in frequency coverage, modulation bandwidth, and output configuration. The R&S SMW200A covers 100 kHz to 44 GHz with up to 2 GHz modulation bandwidth and 1 or 2 RF outputs; the R&S SMBV100B covers 8 kHz to 6 GHz with up to 500 MHz modulation bandwidth; the R&S SGT100A covers 1 MHz to 6 GHz with up to 240 MHz modulation bandwidth; and the R&S SGS100A/SGU100A covers 1 MHz to 40 GHz with up to 2 GHz modulation bandwidth via external analog I/Q.
Fading emulation is available as an option on the R&S SMW200A and is not offered on the other models. Rated RF output power also varies across the line — for example +18 dBm on the R&S SMW200A and +25 dBm with the appropriate option on the R&S SMBV100B. See the comparison table for the per-model values.
| Model | Application | Frequency | Bandwidth |
|---|---|---|---|
| SMW200A | R&D, integration and verification, conformance testing | 100 kHz to 44 GHz | ≤ 2 GHz |
| SMBV100B | R&D, production, integration and verification | 8 kHz to 6 GHz | ≤ 500 MHz |
| SGT100A | Production, automated use, RF source for R&S SMW200A | 1 MHz to 6 GHz | ≤ 240 MHz |
| SGS100A | Production, automated use, RF source for R&S SMW200A | 1 MHz to 40 GHz | ≤ 2 GHz (ext. analog I/Q) |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Vector Signal Generator | |

| Frequency | 100 kHz to 44 GHz |
| Modulation bandwidth | ≤ 2 GHz |
| Fading emulation | yes (optional) |
| RF outputs | 1 or 2 |
| RF output power | +18 dBm |
Important: Data without tolerance limits is not binding and is subject to change (per the datasheet's specification disclaimer).
Important: Several headline specifications in the portfolio tables — including maximum RF output power, lowest SSB phase noise, the +25 dBm SMBV100B output level and SMW200A fading emulation — require optional hardware or software and are not available in the base configuration (marked '(with option)' on the datasheet).
Usage tip: connect up to six R&S SGT100A SGMA RF sources to a single R&S SMW200A for a compact eight-output setup supporting beamforming, MIMO, carrier aggregation, and multistandard testing.
