The R&S SMU200A is a vector signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz, designed to meet the requirements encountered in the research and development as well as the production of modern communications systems. Built around a modular concept, it combines up to two independent signal generators within a single cabinet of only four height units and can be adapted to different application requirements through its frequency, baseband, and enhancement options.
A vector signal generator of this type produces the stimulus signals — modulated carriers spanning frequency, level, and modulation format — used to exercise a receiver or subsystem under controlled conditions. Within communications R&D and production, the instrument supports several test tasks: testing of MIMO receivers, where 2x2 MIMO systems can be tested using a single instrument and two instruments can be combined for larger 2x4 or 4x2 systems; lossless combination of baseband signals in the digital domain for testing multistandard base stations; and realtime processing of LTE HARQ feedback and timing adjustment commands for closed-loop base station tests.

Important: Installation of software not authorized by Rohde & Schwarz for use on the R&S SMU200A, or installation of antivirus software, can deteriorate the setting time performance.
Important: The base unit can only be ordered with an R&S SMU-B10x frequency option (B102, B103, B104 or B106); one frequency option must be installed in RF path A.
Important: The instrument complies with the emission requirements stipulated by EN 55011 class A and is suitable for use in industrial environments; it may not be operated in residential, commercial and business areas or in small-size companies unless additional measures are taken to ensure that EN 61000-6-3 is complied with.
Important: R&S WinIQSIM2 requires an external PC.
Recommended pairing: the optional R&S SMU-B18 digital baseband output enables a lossless digital I/Q connection from the R&S SMU200A to other Rohde & Schwarz instruments such as the R&S AMU200A baseband signal generator and fading simulator.
