The Anritsu MG3681A is a digital modulation signal generator covering 250 kHz to 3 GHz, built around a wideband vector modulator to output the high-accuracy, high-speed vector modulation signals required for R&D and manufacturing of digital mobile communications equipment and related devices. The frequency range covers the bands of leading mobile communications systems addressed during the instrument's design era, and the platform combines an excellent frequency response, distortion, and signal-to-noise ratio with seven internal expansion slots that accept optional modulation units and software for specific air-interface standards.
Per the datasheet, the MG3681A is intended for accurate receiver sensitivity testing and transmitter adjacent channel leakage power testing on high-speed modulation communications systems. Optional MU368040A CDMA Modulation Unit with W-CDMA software enables W-CDMA signal generation; MU368010A TDMA Modulation Unit supports PDC and GSM device test; MU368030A Universal Modulation Unit supports CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, PDC packet, and PHS signal generation; and the MU368060A AWGN Unit adds calibrated noise. The instrument also provides analog AM, FM, and øM modulation for testing of analog communications systems, and its signal purity and memory and frequency sweep functions support general-purpose signal generator use as well.
Anritsu Corporation traces its origins to 1895 in Japan and is one of the longstanding precision measurement companies in the test and measurement industry. Anritsu's RF and microwave instrument portfolio was significantly broadened by its 1990s acquisition of Wiltron Company, which brought additional network analyzer and microwave measurement technology under the Anritsu brand. Anritsu remains an independent, publicly traded Japanese manufacturer with a continuous T&M product lineage.
