The Tektronix Differential SMA Probe Family, comprising the P7313SMA and P7380SMA, is designed for measuring differential signals in a 50Ω signaling environment. These probes convert a differential SMA signal path to a single oscilloscope input channel, letting the right oscilloscope simultaneously acquire up to four high-speed differential signals when four differential SMA probes are used. The SMA inputs connect to high-quality 50Ω terminations that offer industry-leading return loss—a specification that grows in importance for compliance testing as frequencies increase.
These probes are built for validation and compliance testing of high-speed serial data standards. The standards explicitly addressed include PCI-Express I and II, Serial ATA, FBDIMM, DDR, and XAUI. The P7313SMA additionally supports HDMI/DVI testing, aided by its extended termination voltage range that suits differential standards with high common-mode voltages.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every used unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
The Differential SMA Probe Family adds two differential SMA probes—the P7313SMA and P7380SMA—to Tektronix's differential probing line. Both convert a differential SMA signal path into a single oscilloscope input channel and connect to high-quality 50Ω terminations with industry-leading return loss, addressing the challenge of measuring high-speed serial data standards that employ differential signaling across multiple lanes.
Both models share the same core architecture: a high-bandwidth differential amplifier, switchable 2.5X or 12.5X attenuation, flexible termination-voltage control, phase-matched 38-inch SMA cables, an auxiliary inverted output, and the TekConnect interface. The models differ primarily in bandwidth, rise time, and the range of differential standards they cover.

The P7313SMA carries an extended termination voltage range (+3.6/-2.5 V), which the datasheet identifies as making it suited to testing differential standards with high common-mode voltages such as HDMI and DVI—standards listed for the P7313SMA only.
The two models separate on headline performance. The P7313SMA provides typical bandwidth greater than 13.0 GHz, guaranteed 10%-90% rise time under 40 ps, and typical 20%-80% rise time under 25 ps. The P7380SMA provides typical bandwidth greater than 8 GHz, guaranteed 10%-90% rise time under 55 ps, and typical 20%-80% rise time under 35 ps. See the comparison table for the full per-model figures.
The P7313SMA also offers wider differential and common-mode input ranges and the extended +3.6/-2.5 V termination voltage range, versus ±2.5 V on the P7380SMA, along with coverage of HDMI/DVI testing. Serial data standards including PCI-Express I and II, Serial ATA, FBDIMM, DDR, and XAUI apply to both models.
