View full details

The CT6875, CT6876, and CT6877 are AC/DC current sensors that pass a measured conductor through their aperture to deliver a proportional voltage output to a host power analyzer. Sensor performance is built on the Zero Flux (fluxgate detection) measurement method: high-frequency current is detected with windings using the CT method, while direct and low-frequency current is detected with fluxgates. A newly developed opposed split coil broadens the measurement band, and strengthened shielding boosts anti-noise performance for high-accuracy current measurement.

These sensors are intended for evaluating the power conversion efficiency of inverters, motors, and batteries, with particular emphasis on measuring the efficiency of increasingly high-current, high-speed EV/HEV inverters. The 5 MS/s, 18-bit sampling of the host PW6001 supports true power analysis of PWM waveforms free of aliasing error, and the improved noise resistance allows accurate measurement of switching current that would otherwise be obscured by noise. The 2000 A CT6877 is also applied to PV and wind-turbine power conditioner (PCS) efficiency measurement, sensing AC current on the power-system side of the conversion stage.

ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, which lets us match the right instrument to your application and ship quickly.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The CT6875, CT6876, and CT6877 form a family of AC/DC current sensors built on Hioki's Zero Flux (fluxgate detection) measurement method. Across the series, rated current spans 500 A, 1000 A, and 2000 A AC/DC, with each model paired to a frequency band suited to its current class. All three use the newly developed opposed split coil winding to broaden the measurement band, while strengthened shielding boosts anti-noise performance.

Every model in the series outputs a voltage proportional to the measured current through the dedicated ME15W connector and draws its power from a PW6001 or PW3390 analyzer, a CT9555/CT9556/CT9557 sensor unit, or an external DC supply. They share a -40°C to 85°C operating range and the same 1-year accuracy guarantee, differing chiefly in current rating, frequency band, output sensitivity, and measurable-conductor diameter.

Each new model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model whose rated current, frequency band, and measurable-conductor diameter match your measurement, then choose the new listing that fits your sourcing requirements.

The CT6875 is the 500 A AC/DC member of the series and carries the widest frequency band at DC to 2 MHz (±3 dB typical). It outputs 4 mV/A, accepts conductors up to φ36 mm (1.42 in), and allows a maximum input of up to ±1500 Apeak (design value) at 40°C or less for 20 ms or less within the derating range.

The three models differ primarily in rated current and frequency band. The CT6875 measures up to 500 A AC/DC with a DC-to-2 MHz band; the CT6876 measures up to 1000 A AC/DC with a DC-to-1.5 MHz band; and the CT6877 measures up to 2000 A AC/DC with a DC-to-300 kHz band. As rated current rises across the series, the upper frequency limit steps down accordingly.

Physical and output characteristics follow the same pattern. The CT6875 and CT6876 accept conductors up to φ36 mm (1.42 in), while the CT6877 accommodates conductors up to φ80 mm (3.15 in). Output sensitivity is 4 mV/A on the CT6875, 2 mV/A on the CT6876, and 1 mV/A on the CT6877. Each model is also offered in a -01 variant with a 10 m output cable in place of the standard 3 m.

Model Rated Current Frequency Band Conductor Diameter
CT6875 500 A DC to 2 MHz φ36 mm
CT6876 1000 A DC to 1.5 MHz φ36 mm
CT6876 1000 A DC to 1.2 MHz φ36 mm
CT6877 2000 A DC to 300 kHz φ80 mm

Important: Amplitude and phase accuracy are guaranteed over a temperature and humidity range of 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F), 80% RH or less, for input of 110% f.s. or less within the derating range.
Important: This AC/DC current sensor has no internal power source. Power is supplied from a Power Analyzer PW6001 or PW3390, a Sensor Unit CT9555/CT9556/CT9557, or an external DC power supply (CT6877 lists PW6001/PW3390 or CT9555/CT9556/CT9557) — the host instrument is required for operation and is not included.
Important: The sensor output uses an ME15W connector. To interface with a PL23 input, the CT9901 Conversion Cable is required (sold separately); the CT9902 Extension Cable (5 m) extends the output cable, combinable for a maximum additional length of 10 m (32.81 ft).
Important: Maximum input current applies within the derating range only; refer to the frequency-derating curves. For the φ36 mm models, maximum input of up to ±1500 Apeak (CT6875) / ±1800 Apeak (CT6876) is a design value allowed at 40°C or less for 20 ms or less.
Recommended pairing: use with the Hioki Power Analyzer PW6001 or PW3390, the host instruments for which the combined current, power, and phase accuracy figures are specified.
