The HP 35677A and HP 35677B are S-parameter test sets that operate from 100 kHz to 200 MHz. The HP 35677A is configured for 50Ω systems and the HP 35677B is configured for 75Ω systems. Each unit contains the hardware required to make transmission and reflection measurements in both the forward and reverse directions, presenting the device under test through two measurement ports.
These test sets are designed to be used with the HP 3577A Network Analyzer, which controls the switching functions of the test set so that forward and reverse measurements can be performed without changing device connections. Rather than constructing a test setup from discrete RF components such as power dividers, directional bridges, cables, and pads, an engineer can connect the device under test to the integrated test set and let the HP 3577A coordinate the measurement.
ValueTronics International, LLC has specialized in new and used test and measurement equipment since 1992. All inventory is stored, inspected, and functionally tested in our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. That facility-based testing model is what allows us to grade legacy network analysis hardware such as the HP 35677A and the HP 35676A test kits with confidence, rather than passing through unverified units from external sources. When you order a vintage HP test set from ValueTronics, the unit has been handled, evaluated, and prepared for shipment by our own staff.
Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999, and Agilent's electronic measurement business was subsequently transferred to Keysight Technologies in 2014. Instruments originally branded HP, including the HP 35677A/B and HP 35676A/B, therefore trace through the Agilent and Keysight lineage for any historical product references.
This product family covers two related groups of network analysis accessories designed to operate with the HP 3577A Network Analyzer. The HP 35677A/B S-Parameter Test Sets cover 100 kHz to 200 MHz with integrated forward and reverse measurement paths through two test ports. The HP 35676A/B Reflection/Transmission Test Kits extend the lower frequency range to 5 Hz and provide reflection, transmission, and impedance measurement capability through a precision resistive divider and a set of calibration accessories.
Within each pair, the A version supports 50Ω systems and the B version supports 75Ω systems. Customers select between them based on the characteristic impedance of the system under test rather than on a difference in feature set, so this comparison is fundamentally about matching the test accessory to the impedance environment in use.
Each pre-owned model linked below is listed on its own product page with condition-matched pricing and condition-specific information. Pricing, included accessories, and availability reflect the configuration of the specific unit in inventory for that model.
The HP 35677A is the 50Ω S-parameter test set in this group. It is configured with 50Ω test ports and is the appropriate choice when the device under test and the rest of the measurement chain are also in a 50Ω environment, which is the most common impedance choice for general RF work in this frequency range.
The most significant difference between the HP 35677A and HP 35677B is the test port impedance: 50Ω on the HP 35677A and 75Ω on the HP 35677B. Specifications also vary in a few related parameters. Test port match is greater than 26 dB on the HP 35677A and greater than 24 dB on the HP 35677B. Insertion loss from RF input to test port 1 or 2 is typically 13 dB on the HP 35677A and 19 dB on the HP 35677B, and insertion loss from RF input to output ports A, B, or R is typically 19 dB on the HP 35677A and 31 dB on the HP 35677B.
Between the HP 35676A and HP 35676B reflection/transmission test kits, the impedance distinction is again the primary difference: 50 ± 2% (HP 35676A) versus 75 ± 2% (HP 35676B). Equivalent source match is 30 dB typical on the HP 35676A and 25 dB typical on the HP 35676B. Other operating characteristics — frequency range of 5 Hz to 200 MHz, insertion loss of 10 ± 1 dB typical, and equivalent directivity of 40 dB typical — are common to both versions. The comparison table that follows summarizes the specifications side by side.
| Model | Type | Frequency Range | Test Port Impedance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 35677A | S-Parameter Test Set | 100 kHz to 200 MHz | 50 Ohm |
| 35677B | S-Parameter Test Set | 100 kHz to 200 MHz | 75 Ohm |
| 35676A | Reflection/Transmission Test Kit | 5 Hz to 200 MHz | 50 Ohm ± 2% typical |
| 35676B | Reflection/Transmission Test Kit | 5 Hz to 200 MHz | 75 Ohm ± 2% typical |
