The Agilent E1475A is a 75 Ω RF multiplexer expander designed to inexpensively increase system switching capacity in C-size VXI test platforms. It is a register-based, A16 slave module occupying a single C-size slot, and it operates exclusively as a companion to either an E1472A or E1474A RF multiplexer installed in the same system — the E1475A is not a standalone switching instrument but an expander that adds six additional 1x4 multiplexer banks to its host multiplexer.

Within the VXI switching architecture, the E1475A is positioned for video and telecommunications signal routing where 75 Ω impedance matching is required. The expander supports signal frequencies up to 1.3 GHz, and the front panel terminates in 75 Ω SMB male connectors that share the same physical size as their 50 Ω counterparts — a practical detail for users migrating between impedance environments. Up to two E1475A expanders can be daisy-chained to a single host multiplexer, producing a total of eighteen 1x4 banks, and 75 Ω E1475A expanders can be mixed with 50 Ω E1473A expanders under the E1474A and E1472A multiplexers.

ValueTronics International stocks and supports legacy VXI switching modules such as the E1475A from our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Each pre-owned unit passing through our facility is inspected and performance-tested before shipment, and we are positioned to source matching companion modules — such as the E1472A or E1474A host multiplexer required to operate the E1475A — when customers are restoring or expanding existing VXI-based switching systems rather than building from a single transaction.

Brand Heritage

The E1475A originated in the test and measurement division of Hewlett-Packard, which was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999. Agilent's electronic measurement business was further separated as Keysight Technologies in 2014, and Keysight is the current corporate successor for legacy HP and Agilent VXI instrumentation of this generation.

Important: Requires E1472A or E1474A RF multiplexer in the same system. The E1475A is an expander module and does not function as a standalone switch.Important: The E1475A expander is connected to and requires either an E1472A or E1474A RF multiplexer in the same system; it is not a standalone instrument.Important: Up to two E1475A multiplexer expanders can be connected to one multiplexer, providing a total of eighteen 1x4 multiplexer banks.Important: If the expander is to be physically located away from the mainframe, order the Cable Extension Kit (P/N E1473-80002). Each kit includes two 0.8 meter cables, each cable controlling three of the six expander banks. To remotely install one E1475A expander at a distance of eight meters, controlling all six multiplexer banks, requires ten E1473-80002 kits.Important: Only one channel in each bank can be connected to its common at any time. At power-on or reset, channels 00, 10, ... 50 are connected to COM 00, 10, ... 50 respectively, and all other channels are open (unterminated).Recommended pairing: install with the Agilent E1474A 75 Ω RF Multiplexer as the host module. The E1475A can also be combined with E1473A 50 Ω expanders under E1472A or E1474A multiplexers per the datasheet's mix-and-match configuration.
