The Extech MO210 is a pocket-sized moisture meter that measures the moisture content of wood and other building materials using an electrical resistance measurement principle. The instrument combines a digital LCD readout with an analog bargraph on a single dual graphical display, providing both a precise numeric reading and a visual trend indicator in one view. Integrated, replaceable threaded electrode pins extending 0.3 inches (8 mm) make contact with the material under test, and a sliding selector on the front of the meter lets the user choose between the wood scale and the building materials scale.
The datasheet identifies the MO210 for use on wall board, sheet rock, cardboard, plaster, concrete, and mortar, in addition to wood. The combination of pocket form factor, belt clip, impact-proof housing, and battery operation positions the instrument for on-the-go measurements where a full-size bench moisture meter would be impractical. The built-in battery check and measurement verification test give the operator a way to confirm that both the power source and the measurement path are functional before logging a reading — a useful detail when readings are being recorded in the field for downstream documentation.
