The RIGOL M300 Series is a modular data acquisition and switch system that combines precision measurement capability with flexible signal connections. Built around a five-slot mainframe, it supports up to 320 switch channels and accepts a 6½-digit DMM module that can be enabled or disabled in any slot. The system runs standalone without a connected PC and includes a 4.3-inch TFT LCD with a built-in, easy-to-use channel configuration guide.

The M300 is intended for applications where multiple points or signals must be tested. It addresses product performance testing during the R&D phase as well as automatic testing during the production process. Its interval scanning function stores up to 100,000 time-stamped readings, and USB logging supports data capture to a connected USB storage device.

The M300 Series is a modular platform: a single mainframe with five module slots that the user populates to match the measurement task. RIGOL offers the system in three ordering configurations — the M300 mainframe on its own, the M301 with a DMM module installed, and the M302 with both a DMM module and a 20-channel multiplexer plus its terminal block.

Across the platform, RIGOL provides five kinds of multiplexers and five kinds of external terminal blocks, along with an actuator, a multifunction module, and a matrix switch. Channel counts, wiring modes, and supported measurement functions vary by module, so the working configuration is built up from the specific cards a given application requires.

The M300 mainframe is the foundation of the system: it carries the 4.3-inch display, the front-panel controls, and the five module slots, and it can operate without a connected PC. Because the DMM module is enabled or disabled per slot, the same mainframe serves both switch-only and measurement applications.

The multiplexers differ chiefly in channel count and wiring support. The MC3120 provides 20 channels and the MC3132 provides 32 channels, both switching HI and LO inputs and supporting 4-wire measurement. The MC3164 provides 64 single-ended channels that switch HI input only and does not support 4-wire measurement. The MC3324 mixes 20 voltage channels with 4 dedicated current channels for DC or AC current.

The remaining modules serve different roles: the MC3416 is a 16-channel actuator whose channels switch between normally-open and normally-closed states, the MC3534 multifunction module adds digital I/O, totalizer inputs, and analog voltage outputs, and the MC3648 is a 4×8 two-wire matrix with 32 cross points. Important: Signals connected to the analog bus through the DMM module must not exceed 300 Vdc or 300 Vrms.
Important: The multiplexer, actuator, matrix and multifunction modules connect to the signal under test through their corresponding terminal block (M3TB16/M3TB20/M3TB24/M3TB32/M3TB34/M3TB48/M3TB64). The terminal blocks are listed as optional accessories and are ordered separately from the module.
Important: When using built-in cold junction compensation, connect the thermocouple's sensor terminal to the terminal box and warm it up for more than 3 minutes to minimize error.
Important: All frequency counters are susceptible to error when measuring low-voltage, low-frequency signals; shielding inputs from external noise pickup is critical for minimizing measurement errors.
Recommended pairing: the MC3065 6½-digit DMM module connects to the MC3120, MC3132, MC3164, or MC3324 multiplexers, which route the signal under test to it for measurement.
