Sound Meters

A sound meter, or sound level meter, records acoustic measurements. Sound meters use sensors to test and track the changes in air pressure sound waves cause. Sound levels are converted into easy-to-read electrical signals on the device’s display. Typically, sound meters track decibels (dBs) using a microphone. When something applies a constant noise pressure to the microphone, the sound meter accurately converts the electrical signal into dB sound levels. This diagnostic is useful in researching noise pollution and measuring building acoustics. Use a sound meter to measure noise levels and test pieces of electronic equipment.
