The Tektronix TDS 3000 Series are Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes (DPOs), positioned as the lowest-priced, most portable instruments of their kind. A DPO displays, stores, and analyzes three dimensions of signal information in real time — amplitude, time, and the distribution of amplitude over time — giving design engineers and technicians a level of insight that makes dealing with complex signals simpler.
The series is built for a broad set of named applications: digital design and debug, video design and service, industrial electronic design, power supply design, and telecommunications manufacturing. An optional battery pack extends use into highly mobile environments in the field or away from the bench, while communication modules support connected instrumentation across LAN, GPIB, and VGA interfaces.
ValueTronics stocks its instruments in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified by our technicians before it ships, while new units leave factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
Tektronix, founded in 1946, operated as an independent company until it was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007. In 2016 it became part of Fortive Corporation, a Danaher spin-off, under which the Tektronix brand continues to operate.
The TDS 3000 Series comprises six Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes — the TDS 3012, TDS 3014, TDS 3032, TDS 3034, TDS 3052, and TDS 3054 — that share a common platform while differing in bandwidth, channel count, and sample rate. All are positioned as the lowest-priced, most portable DPOs, bringing digital phosphor display technology into a portable form factor.
Every model shares the same core architecture: 9-bit vertical resolution, a 10K-point record length, a full VGA color LCD, 21 automatic measurements, a built-in floppy drive, and a standard Centronics port. With the platform common across all six, the primary differences between models come down to bandwidth, sample rate, and channel count.
Each model in the series below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the pre-owned listing for the specific bandwidth, channel count, and sample-rate tier your application requires.
The six models split into three bandwidth tiers — 100 MHz (TDS 3012 and TDS 3014), 300 MHz (TDS 3032 and TDS 3034), and 500 MHz (TDS 3052 and TDS 3054) — with per-channel sample rates of 1.25, 2.5, and 5 GS/s rising with bandwidth. Within each tier, the two-channel model (TDS 30X2) and four-channel model (TDS 30X4) differ in channel count and in timebase range, which reaches 1 ns/div on the 500 MHz models, 2 ns/div at 300 MHz, and 4 ns/div at 100 MHz.
The four-channel models include the FFT and advanced trigger application modules as standard, along with logic and pulse triggering, whereas these are available as add-on modules on the two-channel models; the two-channel models additionally provide an external trigger input. Bandwidth-limit options also vary by tier, with a 20 MHz limit on all models and an added 150 MHz limit on the 300 MHz and 500 MHz models. See the comparison table for the per-model values.
| Model | Bandwidth | Channels | Sample Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| TDS 3054 | 500 MHz | 4 | 5 GS/s |
| TDS 3012 | 100 MHz | 2 | 1.25 GS/s |
| TDS 3014 | 100 MHz | 4 | 1.25 GS/s |
| TDS 3032 | 300 MHz | 2 | 2.5 GS/s |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: When using the optional TDS 3BAT battery pack, the instrument must be grounded at all times.
Important: Only one Communication Module (TDS 3GM, TDS 3VM, or TDS 3EM) may be installed at a time.
Important: Logic triggers can only be used on combinations of 2 inputs.
Important: The FFT (TDS 3FFT) and Advanced Trigger (TDS 3TRG) application modules are standard on the 4-channel models (TDS 3014, TDS 3034, TDS 3054) but must be purchased separately for the 2-channel models (TDS 3012, TDS 3032, TDS 3054 2-channel versions: TDS 3012/3032/3052).
Important: All Communication Modules include WaveStar Software for Oscilloscopes 30-day, full-functioning product demo.
