The P6245 and P6243 are active FET probes built for TEKPROBE BNC oscilloscope interfaces. Both deliver high-speed signal acquisition with low circuit loading, presenting ≤1 pF of input capacitance and 1 MΩ of input resistance to the device under test. Their small, compact probe heads and versatile attachment accessories allow direct connection to the circuit, and because they draw power through the TEKPROBE BNC interface, no separate power supplies or cables are needed.

These probes are intended for high-speed digital systems design, component design and characterization, manufacturing engineering and test, and educational research. They provide direct, easy access to surface-mount devices and can measure CMOS, BiCMOS, ECL, GaAs, and TTL logic, making them suited to engineers probing fine-pitch SMD circuitry where passive probes would impose too much capacitive loading.

The P6245 is the higher-bandwidth member of the pair, rated at ≥1.5 GHz typical (probe only) with a rise-time of <250 ps and a 10 V DC offset range. It provides scope bandwidth at the probe tip for TDS500/600/700 oscilloscopes and supports high-speed acquisition on SMDs down to 0.5 mm pitch.

The two models differ chiefly in bandwidth and rise-time: the P6245 is ≥1.5 GHz (probe only) with a <250 ps rise-time, while the P6243 is 1 GHz (probe only) with a <350 ps rise-time. The P6245 lists a 10 V DC offset range, whereas the P6243 lists N/A for DC offset. The P6243 provides a 500 MHz system bandwidth when used with 500 MHz oscilloscopes and provides scope bandwidth at the probe tip for the TDS3000 Series up to 1 GHz.
