The GW Instek GCT-9040 is a 40 A AC ground bond tester designed to verify the integrity of the protective earth connection on electrical products. It delivers up to 40 A of AC test current and measures ground bond resistance from 1.0 mΩ to 650.0 mΩ, with a 240 x 64 ice blue dot-matrix LCD that displays test parameters and results, function keys for quick selection, and a high-intensity flash indicator for caution and status signaling.

According to the datasheet, the GCT-9040 supports safety testing of ground bond integrity on electrical products in manufacturing, quality assurance verification, safety standard compliance pre-qualification in R&D, and sequential or simultaneous test operation when paired with the GPT-9800 and GPT-9900 series safety testers. The instrument is positioned to replace the legacy GCT-630 and to augment the existing GW Instek safety tester product line.
