View full details

The Agilent Infiniium 80000B Series is a family of real-time oscilloscope measurement systems spanning 2 GHz to 13 GHz of bandwidth, built around Agilent's CMOS ADC architecture and proprietary packaging technologies for signal integrity. Each model is a four-channel instrument running the Windows XP Pro operating system on an Intel Celeron 3.2 GHz processor and presenting waveforms on an 8.4-inch XGA touch-screen color display. The series pairs with the InfiniiMax I and II probing systems to address single-ended and differential measurements on high-density ICs and circuit boards. The flagship DSO81304B delivers 13 GHz of real-time bandwidth, while the lower-bandwidth siblings share the same acquisition platform, user interface, and connectivity.

Across the series, Agilent documents application support for high-speed serial data analysis and compliance testing—delivered through separately licensed application software—against industry standards including PCI Express, DDR1/2/3, Fully Buffered DIMM, SATA, SAS, Fibre Channel, DVI, HDMI, USB, FireWire, Ethernet, XAUI, Serial Rapid IO, CPRI, OBSAI RP3, and DisplayPort. The platform also supports jitter analysis, eye-diagram and mask testing, and—through the 89600A/89601A vector signal analysis software—wideband signal analysis for applications such as wideband communications, modulated radar, and WiMedia-based MB-OFDM ultra-wideband. Segmented memory acquisition is described for capturing bursting signals, and deep memory is positioned for tasks such as identifying glitches caused by a power-supply start-up from reset.

ValueTronics supplies this instrument from our own 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where we stock and hold our inventory. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house by our technicians before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received. That combination of held inventory and hands-on verification of used equipment lets engineers and labs order with confidence in both new and pre-owned configurations.

Brand Heritage

Agilent Technologies was established in 1999 as a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business. In 2014, that test and measurement business was transferred to Keysight Technologies, the brand under which this product line is supported today.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The Infiniium 80000B Series comprises eight four-channel real-time oscilloscope models that differ principally in analog bandwidth, ranging from 2 GHz on the DSO80204B to 13 GHz on the DSO81304B. All models share the same acquisition engine—40 GSa/s on two channels and 20 GSa/s on four—along with a common Windows-based user interface, MegaZoom memory architecture, and InfiniiMax probe compatibility.

Because the platform is consistent across the family, the practical decision between models is largely a question of how much bandwidth a given measurement requires. Agilent's selection material relates rise/fall time to the bandwidth needed for a target measurement accuracy, and the series' bandwidth-upgradeable design means a model can later be moved up to a higher-bandwidth tier through the After-Burner II program.

Each pre-owned model in the series below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the specific bandwidth tier you need; the comparison table that follows summarizes how the models differ so you can confirm the right model before ordering.

The DSO81304B sits at the top of the series at 13 GHz. Agilent notes that it uses DSP boost software to reach 13 GHz, with a non-DSP-boosted bandwidth of 12 GHz, and that the noise reduction and bandwidth control capability (Option 005) is included standard on this model. It is also the reference configuration against which the InfiniiMax II probe head typical performance figures are quoted.

The clearest difference across the family is analog bandwidth: 2 GHz (80204B), 3 GHz (80304B), 4 GHz (80404B), 6 GHz (80604B), 8 GHz (80804B), 10 GHz (81004B), 12 GHz (81204B), and 12 GHz rising to 13 GHz via DSP on the 81304B. Calculated rise/fall times track these bandwidths accordingly, and trigger jitter is specified at ≤500 fs rms for the 8 GHz-to-13 GHz models versus ≤1 ps rms for the 2 GHz-to-6 GHz models.

Sample rate, channel count, standard memory depth, and the available Option 001 deep-memory upgrade are common across the models, so the comparison table below focuses on the bandwidth-related distinctions that separate one model from the next. The After-Burner II program lets most models step up to the next bandwidth tier, several of which require a return to the service center.

Model Bandwidth Rise Time (20-80%) Analog Channels
DSO80404B 4 GHz 79 ps 4
DSO81304B 13 GHz 24 ps 4
DSO81204B 12 GHz 26 ps 4
DSO81004B 10 GHz 32 ps 4

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum input voltage: ±5 V (50 Ω inputs).
Important: No probes are included with the 80000B Series oscilloscopes. The InfiniiMax Series probes (probe amplifier plus probe head) must be purchased separately.
Important: The DSO81304B uses DSP boost software to achieve its 13 GHz bandwidth; its non-DSP-boosted (analog) bandwidth is 12 GHz. The 13 GHz DSP enhanced bandwidth is not applicable at the 5 mV/div setting.
Important: Analog bandwidth is 11.8 GHz at the 5 mV/div setting for the DSO81304B and DSO81204B models.
Important: Channel 1 is limited to 11.5 GHz between 35 °C and 40 °C.
Important: Warranted specifications are valid after a 30-minute warm-up period and within ± 5 °C of the annual calibration temperature.
Recommended pairing: InfiniiMax Series probe amplifiers (1.5 GHz to 13 GHz) with matching probe heads, which are sold separately and required for probing—no probes ship with the oscilloscope.
