The DMM6500 is a 6½-digit bench/system digital multimeter built around a large 5-inch (12.7 cm) capacitive touchscreen that lets users observe, interact with, and explore measurements with pinch-and-zoom simplicity. Beyond the display, it delivers analog measurement performance of 25 PPM basic DCV accuracy for one year and 30 PPM for two years, with two-year specifications that can potentially allow extended calibration cycles.

The instrument is equipped with 15 measurement functions, including capacitance, temperature via RTD, thermistor, and thermocouple, diode test with variable current sources, and up to 1 MS/sec digitizing. The digitizing function works for voltage or current and is especially useful for capturing transient anomalies or profiling power events such as the operating states of battery-operated devices. With a scanner card slot supporting up to 10 channels of switching, the unit also addresses multi-channel and scanning applications where a series of automated measurements is required.

Brand Heritage

The DMM6500 is a Keithley-branded instrument; Keithley Instruments was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2010 and integrated alongside Tektronix, and both brands moved to Fortive Corporation when Fortive was spun off from Danaher in 2016. The datasheet accordingly carries both the Keithley product identity and the Tektronix corporate trademark.

Recommended pairing: add the 2001-TCSCAN 9-channel thermocouple multiplexer with built-in CJC for automated thermocouple temperature scanning, or the 2000-SCAN 10-channel multiplexer for general multi-channel switching.
