The Agilent 54845A is a 1.5 GHz, 4-channel digital storage oscilloscope and the top-tier model of the Infiniium 54800 series. The datasheet describes the Infiniium family as combining a simple analog-like front panel with the graphical user interface of a PC and connectivity capabilities intended to make high-performance features accessible. The 54845A provides real-time sample rates up to 8 GSa/s in 2-channel mode and 4 GSa/s in 4-channel mode, with equivalent-time sampling to 500 GSa/s and memory depth up to 65,536 points per channel in 2-channel mode.
An oscilloscope captures voltage waveforms over time and displays them on a screen, letting an engineer visualize how a signal behaves — amplitude, frequency, timing, and shape. The Infiniium 54800 series is designed for design, debug, and characterization work where bandwidth, sample rate, and triggering depth are the deciding specifications. The datasheet positions the 1.5 GHz 54845A for the most demanding signal capture requirements in the family, while the 500 MHz and 1 GHz models address general-purpose lab measurements at lower bandwidth tiers.
ValueTronics has supplied new and used electronic test equipment since 1992 and stocks, tests, and ships every instrument from our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Each pre-owned Infiniium oscilloscope is inspected and verified by our in-house technicians before it leaves the facility, and our calibration upgrade options let you match the documentation level your quality system requires. We are not a drop-shipper or a pass-through broker; the instrument you order is physically here, and the person you call when you have a question has hands-on knowledge of the unit.
The Infiniium 54800 series oscilloscopes were originally manufactured by Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement division, which was spun out as Agilent Technologies in 1999 and subsequently transitioned to Keysight Technologies in 2014. Instruments carrying Agilent branding are part of the same product lineage as later Keysight-branded equipment.
The Infiniium 54800 series spans six models built on a common front-panel, user-interface, and connectivity architecture. The datasheet groups the family by bandwidth tier: the 54810A, 54815A, 54820A, and 54825A at 500 MHz; the 54835A at 1 GHz; and the 54845A at 1.5 GHz. Channel count and sample rate vary within each tier.
Across the family, every model shares the Windows 98-based graphical user interface, the analog-like front panel with dedicated per-channel scale and position knobs, standard LAN/GPIB/RS-232/Centronics connectivity, the 3.2 GByte internal hard drive with LS-120 SuperDisk floppy, color-graded persistence display, and the 27-parameter automatic measurement set. The differences across models are concentrated in bandwidth, real-time sample rate, channel count, and memory depth.
Each pre-owned model linked below is its own product page with its own pricing reflecting that model's bandwidth tier, channel count, and current condition. Use the comparison table to identify the bandwidth, sample rate, and channel count that match your application, then open the specific model page for full specifications and current availability.
The 54845A sits at the top of the Infiniium 54800 series with 1.5 GHz analog bandwidth at the 50 Ω input, 8 GSa/s real-time sample rate in 2-channel mode (4 GSa/s in 4-channel mode), and 65,536-point memory depth in 2-channel mode. It is a 4-channel instrument with a 233 ps rise time at 50 Ω, and runt triggering is standard rather than an option.
Within the 500 MHz tier, the 54810A and 54820A are 2-channel instruments while the 54815A and 54825A are 4-channel instruments; sample rate is 1 GSa/s on the 54810A and 54815A, and 2 GSa/s on the 54820A and 54825A. Memory depth is 32,768 points per channel across all four 500 MHz models. The 54835A steps the family up to 1 GHz with 4 GSa/s in 2-channel mode and 2 GSa/s in 4-channel mode. The 54845A is the 1.5 GHz, 8 GSa/s flagship.
Triggering, input voltage limits, and a few other characteristics also vary across the family. Minimum trigger pulse width is 1 ns on the 54810A/15A/20A/25A and 500 ps on the 54835A/45A. Maximum input voltage at 1 MΩ is ±250 V (dc + ac) on the 54810A/15A/20A/25A and ±100 V (dc + ac) on the 54835A/45A. Runt triggering is standard on the 54835A/45A and Option 015 on the 54810A/15A/20A/25A.
