The Agilent OmniBER 718 is a single-box, field-portable multi-rate SDH/SONET communications performance analyzer covering line rates from STM-0/OC-1 (52 Mb/s) up to STM-16/OC-48 (2.5 Gb/s). The instrument is positioned by its datasheet for installation, maintenance, commissioning, system verification, and manufacturing of SDH/SONET transport networks and network equipment, with optional payload modules that extend coverage to PDH/T-carrier, ATM, and Packet over SONET/SDH applications on the same platform.
The platform is offered in three model variants that map test capability to bit rate. The 37718A covers the full SDH/SONET range up to 2.5 Gb/s; the 37718B covers up to 622 Mb/s; and the 37718C covers 155 and 52 Mb/s electrical and optical. All three variants accept the same optional PDH/T-carrier module (2, 8, 34, 140 Mb/s, DS1, and DS3), the jitter option, and the ATM and POS payload options, allowing a buyer to specify the line-rate ceiling appropriate to the network under test while preserving payload and transport flexibility.
ValueTronics International, LLC stocks, inspects, and ships the Agilent OmniBER 718 from our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Every unit that leaves our facility is performance-verified by our technicians against the manufacturer's published specifications before shipment, and condition is documented unit by unit rather than estimated from the model number. Because the OmniBER 718 is a modular platform with multiple optical, payload, and feature options, we confirm the installed option set on every unit and disclose it on the listing so the configuration you receive matches the configuration you need.
The OmniBER 718 was developed and originally manufactured by Agilent Technologies, which was spun out of Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business in 1999. In 2014 Agilent's electronic measurement division was separated as Keysight Technologies, which is the current corporate successor for this product line's service, calibration, and documentation support.
The OmniBER 718 family is documented in the datasheet as three model variants distinguished by their maximum SDH/SONET line rate. All three share the same chassis, the same Smartsetup and Smart Tests operating model, the same payload option set, and the same jitter, ATM, and POS option modules. The variants differ only in the ceiling of the supported optical and electrical line rates, allowing a buyer to specify the rate envelope appropriate to the network under test without changing the rest of the test workflow.
Because the platform options are common across the variants, the choice between 37718A, 37718B, and 37718C is primarily a question of whether 2.5 Gb/s and 622 Mb/s coverage are needed. The same PDH/T-carrier module (option 012), the same jitter option (option 200), the same ATM option (option 300), and the same POS option (option 310) are available on all three variants.
Each pre-owned OmniBER 718 model in the family below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing, option configuration, and accessory listing. Select the model that matches the line-rate ceiling your network requires.
The 37718A is the full-rate variant covering 2.5 Gb/s, 622 Mb/s, 155 Mb/s, and 52 Mb/s SDH/SONET line rates. Its optical receiver wavelength range covers 1280 to 1335 nm and 1500 to 1580 nm with STM-16/OC-48 sensitivity of -28 dBm and maximum input power of -8 dBm. The 37718A uses a customer-exchangeable optical connector system.
The 37718B covers 622 Mb/s, 155 Mb/s, and 52 Mb/s SDH/SONET line rates (no 2.5 Gb/s). The 37718C covers 155 Mb/s and 52 Mb/s only. Both the 37718B and 37718C share an optical receiver wavelength range of 1200 to 1600 nm, sensitivity of -28 dBm at their respective top rates, and maximum input power of -3 dBm. Both use a fixed optical connector system that supports removal for cleaning.
