The Tektronix AWG70000B Series is a family of arbitrary waveform generators built for sample rate, signal fidelity, and waveform memory at the cutting edge, making the instruments suited to the design, testing, and operation of complex components, systems, and experiments. With sample rates reaching up to 50 GS/s and 10-bit vertical resolution, the series is positioned to generate ideal, distorted, and real-life signals from a single box.
The series targets wideband RF and microwave work for communications and defense electronics, including the direct output of wideband RF signals up to 20 GHz. It is applied to validation and compliance testing of high-speed silicon and communications devices, stress testing of receivers with a wide array of signal impairments, coherent optical research, and the generation of high baud-rate baseband signals with higher-order, complex modulation. As a high-speed, low-jitter signal source it also supports leading-edge research in electronics, physics, and chemistry, generating uniquely specified analog signals, fast pulses, data streams, and clocks.
ValueTronics stocks the equipment it sells in its own 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit benefits from that direct-stocking model; pre-owned units are additionally inspected and functionally verified in-house before shipment, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received.
Tektronix, founded in 1946, was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007. In 2016 it became part of Fortive Corporation, the operating company that Danaher spun off that year, and continues to operate under the Tektronix brand.
The AWG70000B Series comprises two models that share a common 10-bit architecture: the single-channel AWG70001B with sample rates up to 50 GS/s, and the two-channel AWG70002B with sample rates up to 25 GS/s. All specifications apply to both models unless noted otherwise, and both deliver the series' spurious-free dynamic range and waveform-fidelity characteristics.
Each model below is a distinct instrument with its own channel count, maximum sample rate, and effective frequency output, while sharing the same run modes, sequencer behavior, marker and trigger architecture, and software plug-in ecosystem.
Each pre-owned model in this series is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model below that matches your channel-count and sample-rate requirement to view its specifications and current pre-owned availability.
The two models differ along several axes documented in the comparison table. The AWG70001B is a single-channel instrument with a maximum sample rate of 50 GS/s and a specified effective frequency output of 20 GHz, while the AWG70002B is a two-channel instrument with a maximum sample rate of 25 GS/s and a specified effective frequency output of 10 GHz. Extended waveform memory reaches up to 32 GSamples on the AWG70001B and up to 16 GSamples per channel on the AWG70002B.
Additional differences include rise/fall time, output flatness, serial data bit rate, and channel-timing characteristics such as channel-to-channel skew, which apply to the two-channel AWG70002B only. The single-ended AC-coupled output amplifier (Option AC) is available on the AWG70001B. Consult the comparison table that follows for the exact per-model values.

Important: On the AWG70001B the 50 GS/s sample rate is enabled by the mandatory AWG70000-150 license, and the waveform plug-ins each require a separate node-locked or floating license before they are fully functional.
Important: The 50 GS/s sample rate license (AWG70000-150) is a mandatory selection for the AWG70001B; the AWG70002B requires the BASIC base configuration as a mandatory selection.
Important: Sequencing (SEQ) and Streaming ID (STRID) options require an export control license; Streaming ID also requires the SEQ option.
Important: The Sequencer is a firmware upgrade that allows the user to run a sequence of waveforms; it runs independent channels except for the clock.
Important: Plug-ins require the purchase of a license before they are fully functional; two license types are available per plug-in: node-locked (NL), permanently assigned to a product model/serial number, and floating (FL), which can be moved between product models.
Important: Spurious Free Dynamic Range (SFDR) specifications are measured with a balun at maximum sample rate. Baluns, bias tees, power splitters, amplifiers, and adapters listed under Recommended Accessories are not part of the standard delivery and must be ordered separately.
Important: GPIB control requires the external TEK-USB-488 GPIB to USB adapter, which is not included in the standard accessories.
Important: Derate maximum operating temperature by 1 °C per 300 meters above 1500 meters.
Recommended pairing: use the AWGSYNC01 Synchronization Hub to synchronize multiple AWG70000 Series units into a multi-channel high-speed AWG system, as listed in the recommended accessories.
