The Tektronix AWG70000A Series is an arbitrary waveform generator family engineered for the cutting edge of sample rate, signal fidelity, and waveform memory. It is built to create ideal, distorted, and real-life signals needed to engineer complex data communications systems, offering up to 50 GS/s and 10-bit vertical resolution for easy generation of very complex signals with complete control over signal characteristics.
The series targets several demanding applications. It addresses wideband RF and microwave generation for communications and defense electronics, outputting wideband RF signals up to 20 GHz. It supports validation and compliance testing of high-speed silicon and communications devices, letting engineers stress-test receivers with a wide array of signal impairments. It serves coherent optical research through generation of high baud-rate baseband signals with higher-order complex modulation, and supports leading-edge research in electronics, physics, and chemistry as a high-speed, low-jitter source for analog signals, fast pulses, data streams, and clocks.
ValueTronics stocks the equipment it sells in its own 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house by our technicians before it ships, while new units leave our facility factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. That combination of held inventory and hands-on verification is what lets us stand behind each pre-owned instrument we list.
The AWG70000A Series is offered in two models that share the same architecture but differ in channel count and maximum sample rate. The AWG70001A is a single-channel instrument; the AWG70002A is a two-channel instrument. Both deliver 10-bit vertical resolution and the same plug-in ecosystem, built-in display, and LXI Class C connectivity.
Across the series the design goal is the same: create ideal, distorted, and real-life signals for engineering complex data communications systems, with complete control over signal characteristics from a single box.
Each pre-owned model below is listed as its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the AWG70000A model and channel configuration your application requires, then choose the pre-owned listing that fits your budget and timeline.
The two models differ in several headline specifications detailed in the comparison table. The AWG70001A provides one analog output at sample rates up to 50 GS/s (with Option 150), an effective frequency output to 20 GHz, a nominal bit rate of 12.5 Gb/s, and waveform memory expandable up to 16 GSamples. The AWG70002A provides two analog outputs at sample rates up to 25 GS/s, an effective frequency output to 10 GHz, a nominal bit rate of 6.25 Gb/s, and waveform memory expandable up to 8 GSamples on both channels.
Sampling-rate options further distinguish the models: Option 150 adds 50 GS/s on the AWG70001A, while Options 208, 216, and 225 add 8, 16, and 25 GS/s respectively on the AWG70002A. Option AC, which adds a single-ended AC-coupled output, applies to the AWG70001A only, and the channel-timing specifications such as channel-to-channel skew apply to the two-channel AWG70002A. Consult the comparison table for the per-model values.

Important: Plug-ins require the purchase of a license before they are fully functional. Two license types are available for each plug-in: node-locked (NL), permanently assigned to a product model and serial number, and floating (FL), which can be moved between products.
Important: GPIB control is provided through the USB B device port and requires the external adapter TEK-USB-488, which is ordered separately as a recommended accessory.
Important: Specify power cord and language option at time of order.
Important: The sequencer for the AWG70000A is a firmware upgrade (Opt. 03) that allows the user to run a sequence of waveforms; the sequencer runs independent channels except for the clock.
Usage tip: pair multiple AWG70000A units with the AWGSYNC01 Synchronization Hub to enable fast synchronization of a multi-channel, high-speed AWG system.
