The Tektronix TDS8200 Digital Sampling Oscilloscope is a comprehensive acquisition and measurement instrument built to process very fast signals. It serves as a primary tool for research, design evaluation, and manufacturing test across semiconductor test, components test, time-domain reflectometry (TDR), and other applications that demand bandwidths reaching into the tens of gigahertz. The instrument acquires data with very low jitter and at a fast acquisition rate, capturing signals in several independent time windows, each with its own acquisition parameters and display.
Tektronix positions the TDS8200 for high-speed component test, for TDR, TDT, and crosstalk testing of components and assemblies, and for communications testing. True differential TDR capability on as many as four differential pairs of signal — each with reflected rise time well below 35 ps — supports complete TDR/TDT/crosstalk measurement of complex assemblies, and TDR Autoset simplifies the test setup.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own test-and-measurement inventory in a 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units leave our facility factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. Holding inventory directly lets our team match the right instrument and configuration to your application and ship it without delay.
Tektronix, Inc. has designed and built test and measurement instruments under its own name since its founding in 1946. The company became part of Danaher Corporation in 2007, and in 2016 it was placed under Fortive Corporation when Fortive was spun off from Danaher.
The TDS8200 anchors Tektronix's 8200-series sampling oscilloscope platform, a modular system that pairs world-class waveform acquisition with familiar MS Windows 2000 PC technology. Rather than fixing performance at the mainframe, the architecture lets the instrument be configured through a large and growing family of electrical and optical plug-in modules selected for the standards and bandwidths a given application requires.
Building on the success of the TDS/CSA8000B — with which it is compatible — the TDS8200 carries forward support for 8000-series modules while adding 8200-series modules such as the 82A04 Phase Reference module. It also includes all of the features of the CSA8200 Communication Signal Analyzer.
Each pre-owned configuration listed below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing, so you can select the mainframe and module set that fit your bench and budget. Review the configurations in the comparison table that follows to confirm the bandwidth, channel count, and module mix before ordering.
Within the platform, the TDS8200 mainframe carries an increased-sensitivity prescaler, so the 80A01 Pre-scaled Trigger Amplifier that boosts prescaler sensitivity on the older 8000B mainframes is typically unnecessary here. Its multiprocessor architecture, with a dedicated per-channel digital signal processor, sustains a high acquisition rate across all timebase modes.
The plug-in modules are where performance is tailored. Electrical sampling modules range from the low-noise 80E02 at 12.5 GHz, through 20 GHz device-characterization modules, to the single-channel 80E06 at 70+ GHz, while the 80E04 adds true differential TDR with reflected rise time at or below 35 ps. Optical sampling modules cover telecom and datacom rates from 155 Mb/s up to 40 Gb/s standards, several with optional clock recovery.
Because bandwidth, channel count, rise time, and supported rates differ from module to module, the right configuration depends on the standard under test. The comparison table that follows lays out these module-level differences so bandwidth, channel count, and TDR or optical capabilities can be matched to the measurement.

Important: Bandwidth is determined by the installed plug-in modules and may exceed 70 GHz as higher-speed modules become available.
Important: The TDS8200 mainframe's bandwidth and rise time are determined by the installed plug-in sampling modules; sampling modules are required for signal acquisition and are ordered separately.
Important: 82A04 Phase Reference Module: an external filter is typically required below 8 GHz for non-sinusoidal reference clock signals; the reference clock input range is 2 to 25 GHz without Option 60G and up to 60 GHz with Option 60G.
Important: For the 80C12 optical sampling module, clock recovery is provided by the 80A05 Electrical Clock Recovery module, which is sold separately.
Important: For TDR probing with the 80E04 module, the 80A02 EOS/ESD Protection module and P8018 TDR probe are recommended for static protection of the sampling or TDR module.
Important: The P7260, P7350, P7350SMA, and P7380SMA active probes require the 80A03 TekConnect interface module (sold separately).
Important: Without the 82A04 Phase Reference Module, system jitter is <800 psRMS (typical); the <200 fsRMS jitter performance requires the Phase Reference Module.
