The Tektronix RSA2200A Series and RSA3300A Series are real-time spectrum analyzers that capture a span of RF frequencies all at one time, seamlessly storing the signal to internal memory. Once captured, a signal can be viewed simultaneously and analyzed in time-correlated frequency, time, and modulation domains. These instruments combine real-time fast-signal capture, internal memory, and modulation analysis with the functionality and operation of a swept spectrum analyzer for looking at very wide spans, all in an integrated, transportable package. The approach captures many signals not viewable on swept spectrum analyzers, letting an engineer characterize a device, system, or signal more completely and rapidly than previously possible.

Listed applications include analog and digital modulation signal quality analysis; understanding frequency and spectral occupancy behavior over time; capture and characterization of undesired, unknown, or interfering signals; and device/system design or operational diagnostic measurement. The series is also applied to getting answers to elusive EMI problems, VCO/synthesizer design, RFID device characterization, general-purpose digital modulation vector signal analysis, spectrum monitoring, and radar measurements. The time-correlated multi-domain view is intended to provide a new level of insight about design or operational problems and possible solutions.

The clearest differences are frequency range and starting point. The RSA2203A and RSA2208A cover 10 MHz to 3 GHz and 10 MHz to 8 GHz respectively, while the RSA3303A and RSA3308A cover DC to 3 GHz and DC to 8 GHz. Real-time seamless capture bandwidth is 10 MHz on the RSA2200A Series versus 15 MHz on the RSA3300A Series, and standard memory depth is 512 ksamples on the RSA2200A Series versus 16.384 Msamples (65.536 Msamples with Opt. 02) on the RSA3300A Series.

Triggering and modulation capability also separate the series. The RSA2200A Series offers free run, single, external, and IF Level triggering, while the RSA3300A Series adds Power (Span BW) and Frequency Mask triggering with Opt. 02.
