The RSA306B and RSA306B-SMA are USB real time spectrum analyzers that use your PC together with Tektronix SignalVu-PC software to provide real time spectrum analysis, streaming capture, and deep signal analysis for signals from 9 kHz to 6.2 GHz. The design separates signal acquisition from measurement: the acquisition hardware connects over USB while data analysis, storage, and replay run on your personal computer, tablet, or laptop. Managing the PC separately from the acquisition hardware makes computer upgrades easy and minimizes IT management issues, all in a low-cost, highly portable package intended for field, factory, or academic use.

A spectrum analyzer measures and characterizes signals in the frequency domain, showing where energy sits across a band and how it changes over time. The RSA306B is positioned for academics and education; maintenance, installation, and repair in the factory or field; value-conscious design and manufacturing; and interference hunting. The 40 MHz real-time bandwidth combined with the processing power of SignalVu-PC is built to reveal transient and intermittent events that conventional swept measurements can miss.

That combination of real stock, real handling of used equipment, and authorized new distribution is what separates us from listings with no accountability for condition.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The RSA306B family pairs compact USB acquisition hardware with Tektronix SignalVu-PC software to deliver real time spectrum and deep signal analysis from 9 kHz to 6.2 GHz. By separating signal acquisition from measurement and performing analysis, storage, and replay on your PC, the design lowers hardware cost and keeps computer upgrades and IT management simple, in a package built for field, factory, or academic use.

The family includes the RSA306B with a Type-N RF input and the RSA306B-SMA, a derivative developed with customer-driven enhancements that enable convenient integration within custom systems and enclosures. Both models share the same 40 MHz acquisition bandwidth and 9 kHz to 6.2 GHz frequency range, differing chiefly in connector type and mechanical configuration.

Each new model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Choose the configuration that matches your connector and integration requirements—the Type-N RSA306B or the Type-SMA RSA306B-SMA—and each new unit is stocked and priced individually.

The RSA306B uses a Type-N female RF input and includes the black protective outer case, under which it carries MIL-PRF-28800F Class 2 environmental, shock, and vibration ratings for use in harsh conditions. It weighs 750 g (1.65 lbs).

The primary difference across the family is the RF input connector and mechanical packaging. The RSA306B provides a Type-N female RF input, while the RSA306B-SMA replaces it with a Type-SMA female connector and is offered either with the black plastic outer shell (SHELL) or without it (NO SHELL) for mounting the bare chassis in custom enclosures. A mounting kit (MKIT) with standoffs is available for the NO SHELL configuration to customers in the US and Canada only.

These configuration choices also affect physical dimensions and weight, and the MIL-PRF-28800F Class 2 environmental, shock, and vibration specifications are not guaranteed when the plastic case is removed, as on the RSA306B-SMA NO SHELL. RF performance—frequency range, 40 MHz acquisition bandwidth, and measurement range—is common across the models. See the comparison table that follows for the connector type, shell options, dimensions, and weight of each model.

Model RF Connector Protective Case Weight
RSA306B Type N, female Yes 750 g (1.65 lbs)
RSA306B-SMA SMA, female Yes 701.5 g (1.55 lbs)
RSA306B-SMA SMA, female No 571.5 g (1.26 lbs)

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum RF input level without damage: +23 dBm (reference level ≥ -10 dBm) and +15 dBm (reference level < -10 dBm), with a maximum DC voltage of ±40 VDC.
Important: The RSA306B requires a host PC and is not a standalone instrument: a PC with Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, or Windows 10 64-bit operating system and a USB 3.0 connection is required for operation. 8 GB RAM and 20 GB free drive space are required to install SignalVu-PC. The PC is not included.
Important: For full performance of the real time features of the RSA306B, an Intel Core i7 4th generation processor is required; processors of lower performance can be used, with reduced real-time performance.
Important: Storage of streaming data requires a drive capable of streaming storage rates of 300 MB/sec; playback of recorded files at live rates requires storage with read rates of 300 MB/sec.
Important: Environmental shock, vibration and handling specifications are not guaranteed when the plastic case is removed (e.g. RSA306B-SMA NO SHELL).
Important: The MKIT mounting kit (for the RSA306B-SMA NO SHELL option only) is available to customers in the US and Canada only.
Important: The Panasonic FZ-G1 Toughpad/Toughbook tablet controller recommended for portable field use is sold separately and is available for purchase from Panasonic and third-party vendors.
