The Agilent U2701A and U2702A are USB modular oscilloscopes that combine a set of essential features for analyzing designs in an affordable way. They are offered in two bandwidths — 100 MHz on the U2701A and 200 MHz on the U2702A — and acquire simultaneously on two channels, Ch 1 and Ch 2. Each unit includes standard debugging capability such as advanced triggering, automatic measurements, and math functions including FFT.
An oscilloscope captures voltage waveforms over time, letting an engineer see a signal's amplitude, frequency, timing, and shape. The U2701A and U2702A connect to a PC through a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface for easy plug-and-play setup, which makes them suited to the education, design validation, and manufacturing industries. The dual-play function lets a unit serve as a standalone instrument or scale up within a cardcage alongside additional scopes or other Agilent USB modular products, providing a complete solution for system development.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
Agilent Technologies was established in 1999 as a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business. In 2014, Agilent's electronic measurement business was separated again to form Keysight Technologies, under which this product line was subsequently offered.
The U2701A/U2702A USB Modular Oscilloscope family consists of two models that share a common architecture and differ primarily in bandwidth. Both acquire simultaneously on two channels, reach up to 1 GSa/s when channels are interleaved, and carry up to 32 Mpts of standard waveform memory.
Both models offer the dual-play function, allowing each to run as a standalone instrument over Hi-Speed USB 2.0 or to be installed in a modular product chassis for system expansion. Advanced triggering, four math functions with FFT, and the Agilent Measurement Manager software are standard across the family.
Each model in this family is listed on its own dedicated product page, with pricing matched to the pre-owned unit you select. Choose the model whose bandwidth fits your application, then open the listing for your preferred condition.
The two models are separated by bandwidth: the U2701A provides DC to 100 MHz with a calculated rise time of 3.5 ns, while the U2702A provides DC to 200 MHz with a calculated rise time of 1.75 ns. Sample rate, memory depth, vertical resolution, and trigger capability are otherwise common to both.
The included probe tracks the bandwidth tier as well: the U2701A ships with 10:1 150 MHz passive probes (N2862A) and the U2702A ships with 10:1 300 MHz passive probes (N2863A). The comparison table below summarizes these per-model differences.
| Model | Bandwidth | Rise Time | Max Sample Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| U2702A | 200 MHz | 1.75 ns | 1 GSa/s |
| U2701A | 100 MHz | 3.5 ns | 1 GSa/s |

Important: Maximum input is CAT I 30 Vrms, 42 Vpk. Under standalone use, measurement is limited to CAT I 30 Vrms; for high-voltage measurement up to CAT I 300 Vrms, the L-Mount kit must be installed on the module and screwed to the product chassis for proper grounding, and the provided 10:1 probes (N2862A/N2863A) must be used to avoid damaging the instrument.
Important: The Hi-Speed USB 2.0 / USBTMC 488.2 remote interface is compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems only and requires a direct USB connection to the PC so the appropriate driver can be installed in the USB modular instrument.
Recommended pairing: use the Agilent U2781A USB Modular Product Chassis to operate the oscilloscope in a cardcage with additional modules, per the dual-play configuration.
