The Keysight U1882B is a power measurement application that runs directly on Infiniium S-Series and 9000 Series oscilloscopes, turning the instrument into a single-box solution for testing switching mode power supply characteristics. It provides a full suite of automatic power measurements organized into seven modules — power device analysis, input line analysis, output analysis, turn on/off analysis, transient analysis, and modulation analysis — in addition to deskew and report generation. Each module contains relevant measurement and setup selections built for easy, repeatable characterization.
The application targets the manual, time-consuming power measurements that designers of high-efficiency, low-cost power supplies otherwise perform by hand. It automates characterization of switching mode power devices, analysis of line power for power quality, harmonics, and conducted emissions under different operating conditions, measurement of output voltage ripple, and evaluation of turn-on, turn-off, and load transient behavior. By replacing the manual capture, analysis, and reporting steps, it reduces the considerable time designers otherwise dedicate to power device measurement and analysis.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, and has served test-and-measurement buyers since 1992.
The instrument business behind this product traces its roots to Hewlett-Packard, whose test and measurement origins date to 1939. That business was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999 and became Keysight Technologies in 2014.
The U1882B is offered as a single power measurement application rather than a tiered family of hardware models, with two perpetual licensing choices that differ only in how the license is bound to your equipment. Both deliver the identical seven-module measurement suite — power device, input line, output, turn on/off, transient, and modulation analysis, plus deskew and report generation — running directly on Infiniium S-Series and 9000 Series oscilloscopes.
The choice between the two options comes down to deployment: whether the license should remain fixed to one oscilloscope or be transportable across instruments. Both share the same software requirements and the same set of recommended probes and the U1880A deskew fixture for accurate voltage and current measurement.
Each new license option below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the configuration that matches your oscilloscope and how you intend to deploy the license.
The two ordering options differ in license portability. Option 1FP is an oscilloscope-locked, fixed perpetual license tied to a single instrument, while Option 1TP is a transportable, fixed perpetual license. The underlying measurement modules are identical between the two; only the binding of the license differs.
Both options require Infiniium software revision 5.00 or above and the U1880A deskew fixture is recommended for deskewing voltage and current probes with either. See the comparison table that follows for the per-option ordering details.
| Model | Type | Description | License Options |
|---|---|---|---|
| U1880A | Fixture | Deskew Fixture | — |
| U1882B | Software | Power Measurement Application | Oscilloscope-locked (Opt 1FP) or Transportable (Opt 1TP), fixed perpetual license |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
Important: Designed for Infiniium S-Series and 9000 Series oscilloscopes; requires software revision 5.00 or above.
Important: Software 4.30 or above requires Windows 7. Use the N2753A Infiniium Windows XP to 7 OS upgrade kit (oscilloscope already has M890 motherboard) or the N2754A Infiniium Windows XP to 7 OS and M890 motherboard upgrade kit (oscilloscope without M890 motherboard). Verify the M890 motherboard using the procedure in the Windows 7 upgrade kit data sheet, publication 5990-8569EN.
Important: Voltage and current probes and the U1880A deskew fixture are required to perform power measurements and are not included with the application; order the appropriate Keysight current, differential, and passive probes and the U1880A deskew fixture separately (see Recommended probes and accessories). Keysight N2790A to N2793A differential probes are recommended for most applications.
Important: N2780A, N2781A, N2782A, and N2783A current probes each require the N2779A power supply.
