The Keysight N9040B UXA Signal Analyzer is the flagship instrument in the Keysight X-Series family, designed to deliver wide-open performance for the most sophisticated signal analysis applications. Engineered to characterize today's most challenging signals — including fast-hopping, wideband, and transient signals — the UXA provides deeper views into elusive signal behavior with industry-leading phase noise and wide spurious-free dynamic range.
The UXA is built for applications that include 5G development, 802.11ax/ay wireless characterization, satellite communications, radar systems, and electronic warfare (EW). It is positioned to push the envelope in current and next-generation radar and EW systems, analyze bandwidth-hungry emerging standards such as 5G and automotive radar, diagnose subtle design issues in local oscillators and frequency synthesizers, and record and analyze real-world environments through gap-free streaming.
ValueTronics International has supplied professional test and measurement instruments since 1992 from our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Every {{CONDITION}} signal analyzer in this product family is processed through our in-house inspection workflow before it reaches a customer bench, with technical questions handled by people who know the catalog rather than routed through an offshore queue. Unlike drop-shippers and pass-through brokers, we hold physical inventory and perform our verification work on the same premises where orders are fulfilled.
Keysight Technologies traces its measurement heritage through one of the most significant lineages in the test and measurement industry. Hewlett-Packard spun off its test, measurement, and chemical analysis businesses as Agilent Technologies in 1999. In 2014, Agilent further separated its electronic measurement business, which became Keysight Technologies, while Agilent retained its life sciences and chemical analysis operations. The X-Series signal analyzers continue this engineering lineage.
The Keysight X-Series Signal Analyzers comprise five models — CXA, EXA, MXA, PXA, and UXA — spanning a range of price and performance that lets engineers configure and optimize the right tool for their specific signal analysis needs. All five share a common multi-touch user interface, the same measurement algorithms, and 100% code compatibility, so test-system software written for one model leverages directly to any other.
Across the family, every model supports the PowerSuite measurement set, a 2 dB step attenuator, and a precision frequency reference as standard. The differences between models center on maximum frequency coverage, maximum internal analysis bandwidth, and optional capabilities such as Noise Floor Extension, Fast Sweep, External Mixing, Microwave Preselector Bypass, Real-time Spectrum Analysis, Low Noise Path, and Full Bypass Path.
Each pre-owned model in the X-Series family is listed as its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. The comparison table below summarizes the headline differences across the family — use the per-model pages to review the specific specifications, options, and software application support for the model that best fits your application.
Within the X-Series family, the N9040B UXA is positioned as the flagship — the model engineers select when the application requires maximum frequency coverage, the widest internal analysis bandwidth in the family (1 GHz), real-time spectrum analysis with the shortest probability-of-intercept signal duration (3.51 µs), and the lowest phase noise (-136 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz, 10 kHz offset). The optional Low Noise Path and Full Bypass Path — both available on the UXA and PXA — provide additional measurement headroom for the most demanding applications including 5G, automotive radar, satellite, and EW characterization.
Maximum frequency coverage scales across the family: the N9000B CXA reaches 26.5 GHz, the N9010B EXA reaches 44 GHz, the N9020B/N9021B MXA reaches 50 GHz, the N9030B PXA reaches 50 GHz, and the N9040B/N9041B UXA reaches 50 GHz or 110 GHz depending on configuration. Maximum internal analysis bandwidth ranges from 25 MHz on the CXA up to 1 GHz on the UXA, with intermediate steps at 40 MHz (EXA), 160 MHz (N9020B MXA), and 510 MHz (N9021B MXA, PXA).
Optional capabilities also differ by model: Noise Floor Extension, Fast Sweep, External Mixing, Microwave Preselector Bypass, and Fast Power are available on the EXA, MXA, PXA, and UXA. Real-time Spectrum Analysis is available on the MXA, PXA, and UXA. Low Noise Path and Full Bypass Path are available only on the PXA and UXA. BBIQ is available on the PXA and the N9020B MXA.
