The N5221B and N5222B are PNA Series network analyzers from Keysight, available in 2-port and 4-port configurations. A network analyzer measures how a radio-frequency or microwave component transmits and reflects signals, expressing that behavior as S-parameters — the fundamental description of how energy passes through or bounces back from a device under test. These instruments provide the source, receivers, and error-correction framework needed to make those measurements across a wide frequency span.

Both models support reflection (Sii) and transmission (Sij) S-parameter measurements as well as group-delay measurement, computed from the phase change across a selectable frequency aperture. Internal receiver gates enable point-in-pulse and pulse-profile measurements for pulsed-RF work, and external IF inputs allow the use of external IF signals from remote mixers, bypassing the analyzer's first converters. Four front-panel USB master ports, a configurable Handler I/O, and an external test-set driver further support integration into larger measurement setups.

ValueTronics stocks this instrument in our own 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house by our technicians before it ships, while new units leave our facility factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.

Brand Heritage

This instrument carries Keysight Technologies branding. Keysight's test and measurement lineage traces back to Hewlett-Packard, whose measurement business was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999; Agilent's electronic measurement business then became Keysight Technologies in 2014.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The N5221B and N5222B make up the Keysight PNA Series network analyzers covered here, sharing a common platform and offered in both 2-port and 4-port configurations. Both models characterize the reflection and transmission behavior of RF and microwave components through S-parameter measurements.

Within the series, the two models are distinguished primarily by upper frequency coverage, and each can be ordered with a range of options that add front-panel jumpers, an R1 receiver switch, extended power range, bias-tees, or low frequency extension hardware.

Each pre-owned model below is its own product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model and configuration that fit your frequency, port-count, and option requirements, and the corresponding pre-owned listing will reflect availability and pricing for that exact unit.

The principal difference between the two models is frequency range: the N5221B covers 10 MHz to 13.5 GHz and the N5222B covers 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz, with both reaching down to 900 Hz (specified) or 500 Hz (typical) when fitted with a Low Frequency Extension option. Port count is selected by base option — Option 200/201/217/219 for 2-port builds and Option 400/401/417/419 for 4-port builds.

Option suffixes further define each unit: base options add front-panel jumpers and an R1 receiver switch; the 217/417 and 219/419 options add source and receiver attenuators for extended power range (with bias-tees on 219/419); and the 205/405 and 220/420 options add low frequency extension hardware. Consult the comparison table for the frequency, port, and option differences across the listed models.

Model Frequency Range Max Frequency Test Port Connector
N5222B 900 Hz to 26.5 GHz 26.5 GHz 3.5 mm
N5221B 900 Hz to 13.5 GHz 13.5 GHz 3.5 mm

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum (damage) input level varies by option: 30 dBm RF / 40 V DC on Options 200/201/219/400/401/419, 30 dBm / 7 V DC on Options 217/417, and 20 dBm / 50 V DC on all LFE options.
Important: All specifications and characteristics apply over a 25 °C ±5 °C range (unless otherwise stated) and 90 minutes after the instrument has been turned on.
Important: Measurements below 10 MHz require a Low Frequency Extension (LFE) option (Option 205, 220, 405, or 420); to measure below 10 MHz, LFE must be enabled. The standard configuration covers 10 MHz and above, and all measurements above 100 MHz use standard hardware regardless of the LFE enabled/disabled setting.
Important: Corrected (calibrated) system performance is specified using the 85052B calibration kit (or an N4691B / N4691D 2-port or N4433A 4-port ECal module) together with the 85131F flexible test port cable set and a full 2-port calibration; these calibration standards and cables are required to achieve the corrected performance in this data sheet.
Important: Specifications for Recall & Sweep Speed are not provided for the N522xB analyzers.
Important: Free Uncertainty Calculator available from http://www.keysight.com/find/na_calculator to generate uncertainty curves for your calibration kit and PNA setup.
