The Keysight N4693A is a 2.4 mm two-port Electronic Calibration (ECal) module covering 10 MHz to 50 GHz. ECal is a precision single-connection calibration technique that uses fully traceable, verifiable electronic standards. Each module carries unique S-parameter data in its internal memory, which the network analyzer reads during calibration to compute its error terms. The N4693A is part of Keysight's microwave two-port ECal family, alongside companion 2.92 mm, 1.85 mm, 3.5 mm, Type-N, and 7 mm modules that share the same operating concept.
The documented purpose of an ECal module is to perform vector network analyzer calibration with substantially fewer connections than a mechanical SOLT calibration. The reference material illustrates that a four-port SOLT calibration with mechanical standards requires a minimum of eighteen connections across twelve one-port standards and three two-port thru standards, whereas an ECal-based calibration of the equivalent port count requires only the connections to the module ports themselves. For a two-port calibration on the N4693A, both analyzer test ports connect to the module and the calibration proceeds from the stored standards. Supported calibration types on compatible analyzers include 1-Port Reflection, Full 2-Port, Full 3-Port, Full 4-Port, Enhanced Response, and QSOLT, with advanced settings such as Adapter Removal, Flush (zero length) Thru, Unknown Thru, and User-Characterization where supported by the host analyzer.
ValueTronics International, LLC operates a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse and verification facility at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois, where every instrument we sell is received, inspected, and held under controlled conditions. As an authorized distributor for Keysight Technologies, we supply both new and verified pre-owned ECal modules with the documentation and condition transparency that calibration labs and metrology teams need for incoming acceptance. The Elgin facility is the single point of accountability behind every order, and the staff who handle, test, and ship your module are the same people you can reach directly with questions about its condition or configuration.
Keysight Technologies was established in 2014 when Agilent Technologies spun off its electronic measurement business as a separate company. Agilent itself had been formed in 1999 when Hewlett-Packard separated its test and measurement operations from its computing business. ECal modules sold today under the Keysight name carry forward the product line and design lineage from the HP and Agilent eras, which is why older modules in the field may carry HP or Agilent branding while being supported under the current Keysight product family.
The Keysight microwave two-port ECal family comprises the N4690B and N4690C (Type-N 50 Ω, 300 kHz to 18 GHz), N4691B (3.5 mm, 300 kHz to 26.5 GHz), N4692A (2.92 mm, 10 MHz to 40 GHz), N4693A (2.4 mm, 10 MHz to 50 GHz), N4694A (1.85 mm, 10 MHz to 67 GHz), and N4696B (7 mm, 300 kHz to 18 GHz). All share the same single-connection electronic-calibration concept, USB interface to PNA and ENA analyzers, and the same 20 °C to 26 °C operating temperature window.
Within this family, the connector interface sets both the upper frequency limit and the mechanical handling requirements. The N4693A occupies the 2.4 mm slot at 50 GHz, sitting between the 2.92 mm N4692A at 40 GHz and the 1.85 mm N4694A at 67 GHz.
Each new model below is listed on its own product page with condition-matched pricing and accessory configuration. Where a sibling model appears on a separate page, that page describes its specific connector type, frequency coverage, and included accessories independently.
The N4693A is the 2.4 mm member of the family and the lowest-frequency module in the precision sub-millimeter-wave group; its 50 GHz upper limit covers applications that cannot be reached on the 2.92 mm N4692A but do not require the 67 GHz coverage of the 1.85 mm N4694A. The reference performance table for the N4693A shows its strongest characterized region in the 200 MHz to 2 GHz band, where directivity reaches 51 dB and reflection tracking is ±0.03 dB.
The primary axis of differentiation across the microwave two-port family is upper frequency limit, which is determined by the connector interface. The N4690B/C (Type-N) and N4696B (7 mm) cover 300 kHz to 18 GHz; the N4691B (3.5 mm) extends to 26.5 GHz; the N4692A (2.92 mm) reaches 40 GHz; the N4693A (2.4 mm) reaches 50 GHz; and the N4694A (1.85 mm) reaches 67 GHz. The 10 MHz low-end is shared by the N4692A, N4693A, and N4694A, while the larger-connector models begin at 300 kHz.
All six modules share the same calibration concept, the same USB interface to the host analyzer, the same operating temperature window of 20 °C to 26 °C, and the same option scheme (00M, 00F, M0F port configurations, plus Option 00A for matching adapters and Option UK6 for a measured-data calibration certificate). The comparison table that follows lists frequency coverage and connector type for each model side by side.
