The Fluke 734A DC Reference Standard is a direct voltage reference used to maintain the volt in primary and secondary standards laboratories. The system consists of four electrically and mechanically independent 732B DC Standards housed in a rack-width enclosure, with each 732B providing both 10V and 1.018V outputs from its own power supply, oven, supporting electronics, and packaging.
The 734A was designed for laboratories that need to maintain traceability to national standards and to distribute the volt to production, service, calibration laboratories, or other remote locations. Each 732B is small and highly portable, with a 72-hour internal battery life that supports transporting the volt across town or around the world while the reference is maintained undisturbed in the laboratory. The 1.018V output simplifies intercomparisons of saturated standard cell banks in applications where those are still in use.
ValueTronics International stocks, tests, and ships the 734A DC Reference Standard and individual 732B DC Standards from our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Unlike drop-ship brokers and pass-through resellers, every unit in our inventory is held, inspected, and prepared in-house — so when a primary or secondary standards lab orders a 734A from us, the unit ships from a facility that has physically handled it, not from a listing routed to a third party.
Fluke Corporation is a long-established US manufacturer of precision test, measurement, and calibration instrumentation, headquartered in Everett, Washington. Fluke became part of Danaher Corporation in 1998, and in 2016 Danaher spun off several of its industrial businesses — including Fluke — as Fortive Corporation, which remains Fluke's current parent.
The 734A family covers the maintenance and dissemination of the DC volt at the primary and secondary standards laboratory level. The 734A is the full rack-width system containing four electrically and mechanically independent 732B DC Standards, and the 732B is the same standard offered individually for customers who need fewer cells or who want to add capacity to an existing 734A enclosure.
Each 732B provides both a 10V and a 1.018V output and includes its own power supply, oven, supporting electronics, and packaging. This independence is what allows the four cells in a 734A to be intercompared without common-mode error sources, and it is what allows a single 732B to be transported to a remote location while the rest of the reference remains undisturbed in the laboratory.
Each pre-owned model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing, inventory status, and warranty terms. Click through to the model that matches your application — the 734A for a complete four-cell rack-width reference, or the 732B for an individual DC Standard.
The 734A is purchased when a laboratory needs the complete four-cell architecture in a single rack-width enclosure from the outset — for example, when establishing a new primary or secondary standards capability, or when the four-cell intercomparison approach described in NBS Technical Note 1239 is the operating model from day one. The 734A-7001 enclosure is also available separately for customers who are building up to four cells over time.
The two listings differ in form factor and quantity rather than in measurement performance. A single 732B delivers the same 10V output (±2 ppm per year stability, 12 mA drive capability) and the same 1.018V output (±0.8 ppm per month stability) as any one of the four cells inside a 734A — they are the same instrument. The 734A simply integrates four of them into the rack-width 734A-7001 enclosure and supports the four-cell intercomparison architecture from a single purchase.
The comparison table that follows lists the cell count, output voltages, output drive current, stability specifications, battery operating time, and physical dimensions for each configuration. Use the table to confirm which form factor matches your laboratory's intended reference architecture and rack space.
