The FLIR T540 24° is a handheld thermal imaging camera built around a 464 × 348 pixel uncooled microbolometer detector operating across the 7.5–14 µm spectral range. The 24° configuration pairs a 17 mm focal length lens with a 0.90 mrad/pixel spatial resolution and an f/1.3 aperture, producing a 24° × 18° field of view suited to general-purpose inspection distances. Image acquisition runs at 30 Hz, with a noise-equivalent temperature difference (NETD) below 40 mK at +30°C ambient.
The camera supports a range of measurement and presentation workflows documented on the datasheet: up to three live spotmeters, three live area measurements, automatic hot and cold detection within an area, difference temperature and reference temperature functions, and emissivity correction variable from 0.01 to 1.0 or selected from a built-in materials list. Image presentation modes include infrared, visual, MSX, and a resizable and movable picture-in-picture overlay. Color alarm (isotherm) options cover above, below, interval, condensation (moisture/humidity/dewpoint), and insulation conditions.
FLIR Systems was acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2021, forming Teledyne FLIR. The FLIR brand was retained because of its market recognition in thermal imaging — when a maintenance engineer says "FLIR" they mean the same product line and engineering pedigree that has defined the thermal camera category for decades. T-Series instruments documented under the FLIR Systems name continue to be supported under the Teledyne FLIR organization.
