The FLIR A6780 is a midwave infrared (MWIR) thermal imaging camera built around a cooled indium antimonide (InSb) detector with 640 × 512 pixel resolution and 15 µm pixel pitch. The camera covers a spectral range of 1.0 to 5.0 µm and uses closed-cycle rotary cooling to maintain detector performance. A built-in, software-controlled 3-position warm filter wheel allows remote switching between standard and high-temperature measurement ranges without manual intervention at the camera body.

The A6780 is positioned for industrial, military, and manufacturing R&D applications where users need to measure the temperatures of rapid thermal events and fast-moving targets across a wide temperature range. The camera's combination of short exposure times, advanced synchronization options, and high-speed windowed frame rates supports capture of fast-changing thermal phenomena, while the available lens suite — including manual and motor-focus options — provides flexibility to maximize measurement pixels on the object of interest regardless of size and distance.

Test and measurement equipment ordered from ValueTronics ships from our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where instruments are stored, inspected, and prepared for delivery by our in-house team. As a professional T&M distributor since 1992, ValueTronics maintains the inventory depth and technical support infrastructure that drop-shippers and pass-through brokers cannot provide.

Brand Heritage

FLIR Systems was acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2021 and now operates as Teledyne FLIR, though the FLIR brand name is maintained on cameras and imaging products. The corporate headquarters remains in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The FLIR A6780 series comprises four models — A6780, A6781, A6782, and A6783 — that share a common 640 × 512 InSb detector, 15 µm pixel size, snapshot readout, and the FLIR FPO-M motorized lens interface. The models differ in spectral range, thermal sensitivity, optical f/#, and the availability of microscope close-up lens options.

Across the family, all four models support the same closed-cycle rotary cooling, 14-bit dynamic range, GigE Vision radiometric data streaming, GenICam command and control, and the built-in 3-position motorized warm filter wheel for switching between standard and extended high-temperature ranges.

Each model below links to its own dedicated product page with pre-owned pricing and availability. Specifications, lens compatibility, and accessory options are documented on each individual model page to help match the right configuration to your measurement application.

The A6780 covers the full 1.0 to 5.0 µm spectral range with an f/2.5 optical system, ≤25 mK typical NETD, and a standard temperature range of -20°C to 300°C with band-matched optics. Available manual broadband lenses for this model include 25 mm, 50 mm, and 100 mm focal lengths.

The A6781 and A6783 narrow the spectral range to 3.0 to 5.0 µm and offer improved thermal sensitivity at ≤20 mK typical NETD, while the A6780 and A6782 cover the broader 1.0 to 5.0 µm range at ≤25 mK typical. The A6780 and A6781 use an f/2.5 optical system; the A6782 and A6783 use an f/4.0 optical system with a wider standard temperature range of -20°C to 350°C.

Lens and microscope compatibility also differs across the family: the A6781 and A6783 add 3-5 µm band-specific manual and motorized lenses at 17, 25, 50, 100, and 200 mm focal lengths, plus 1X and 3X microscope close-up options. The A6780 and A6782 do not offer microscope lenses. The comparison table that follows shows the spectral range, NETD, f/#, and lens compatibility differences across the four models.

Model Spectral Range Thermal Sensitivity (NETD) Camera f/#
A6780 1.0 – 5.0 µm ≤25 mK typical f/2.5
A6781 3.0 – 5.0 µm ≤20 mK typical f/2.5
A6782 1.0 – 5.0 µm ≤25 mK typical f/4.0
A6783 3.0 – 5.0 µm ≤20 mK typical f/4.0

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
