The Anritsu MT9090A Network Master is a handheld µOTDR platform designed for installation and maintenance of optical fiber networks. The system consists of the MT9090A mainframe paired with an MU909014 or MU909015 µOTDR Module, with module options spanning single-wavelength maintenance configurations, dual-wavelength installation configurations, and tri-wavelength configurations covering both installation and maintenance workflows. The complete unit measures 190 × 96 × 48 mm and weighs under 700 g including the mainframe, module, and standard battery.
According to the datasheet, the MT9090A is positioned for fiber network applications spanning premise and access through metro and core, including PON-based FTTx networks with splitter ratios up to 1 × 64. The platform supports central office, FTTx, and intra-building cable evaluation through its 0.8 m event dead zones, and long-haul fiber characterization through dynamic range options up to 38 dB. The Fiber Visualizer mode is designed to simplify the testing workflow so that operators without deep OTDR expertise can obtain a graphical summary of the fiber under test within seconds.
ValueTronics International stocks and supports the Network Master MT9090A platform and its MU909014/15 module configurations from our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Every {{CONDITION}} unit is inspected and functionally evaluated by our technical team before it ships, so the optical performance behind a fiber commissioning or maintenance program is verified rather than inferred. As a multi-brand distributor with over three decades in optical and RF test, ValueTronics handles configuration confirmation, accessory verification, and connector-adapter matching directly — rather than passing those steps through a drop-ship channel.
Anritsu Corporation is a Japanese precision measurement company with roots extending to 1895. The optical test capabilities now branded under Anritsu were significantly expanded through the acquisition of NetTest's optical test product line, which the brochure references in describing over 50 years of combined OTDR design heritage. Anritsu remains an independent, publicly traded T&M manufacturer headquartered in Atsugi, Japan.
The MU909014/15 µOTDR Module family spans three commercial tiers built around the common MT9090A mainframe. Maintenance-only modules (MU909014A1, MU909015A6) provide single-wavelength testing at 1625 nm or 1650 nm for in-service fiber work. General-purpose installation modules (MU909014B/B1, MU909015B/B1) provide dual 1310/1550 nm OTDR testing. Combined installation-and-maintenance modules (MU909014C/C6, MU909015C/C6) provide tri-wavelength coverage in a single instrument.
Within each tier, the '14' versus '15' designation distinguishes dynamic range class: the MU909014 modules are 30 dB-class instruments (typically 32.5 dB at 20 µs), while the MU909015 modules are 35 dB-class instruments (35–38 dB at 20 µs depending on wavelength). The 'C6' and 'A6' suffixes indicate inclusion of the integrated PON Power Meter, Power Meter, Light Source, and Loss Test Set FTTx workflow functions.
Each pre-owned MT9090A configuration linked below is its own listing with condition-matched pricing. Module variants differ in wavelength coverage, dynamic range class, included FTTx workflow functions, and UPC versus APC connector interface — confirm the option suffix on the specific listing matches your fiber plant before ordering.
The principal differences across the family are wavelength coverage, dynamic range, and integrated workflow functions. Wavelength configurations include single-wavelength maintenance (1625 nm or 1650 nm), dual-wavelength installation (1310/1550 nm), tri-wavelength installation-and-maintenance (1310/1550 nm plus filtered 1625 nm or 1650 nm), and the 1310/1490/1550 nm installation configuration available on the -059 and -069 option codes. Dynamic range at 20 µs pulse width varies from 32.5 dB (14-series, 30 dB class) up to 38 dB (15-series C/C6 modules at 1310 nm).
Dead zone and sampling resolution also differ by tier: the C/C6 and A6 modules provide ≤0.8 m Fresnel dead zone (typical) and 2 cm sampling resolution with up to 250,001 sampling points, while the A1/B/B1 modules provide ≤1 m Fresnel dead zone and 5 cm sampling resolution with up to 125,001 sampling points. Integrated FTTx workflow functions — PON Power Meter, Loss Test Set, Light Source, DCFL mode — are available on the C6 and A6 module variants and absent on the base C, B/B1, and A1 variants. The comparison table that follows summarizes these distinctions across the available models.
| Model | Wavelengths | Dynamic Range (20 µs) | Dead Zone (Fresnel) |
|---|---|---|---|
| MT9090A | — | — | — |
| MU909014A1-053 | 1625 nm | 32.5 dB | ≤1 m |
