The MS4661A, MS4661E, and MS4662A are 100 kHz to 3 GHz network analyzers for measuring transmission/reflection and S-parameter characteristics on a 50 Ω system. The MS4661A/E integrate a transmission/reflection measurement test set (bridge), making them suited to measuring antennas and passive devices such as filters, attenuators, switches, and cables, where the input and output impedances are nearly equal. The MS4662A adds an S-parameter test set, allowing it to measure active devices with different input and output characteristics, such as amplifiers, and to capture forward and reverse direction characteristics with a single connection.
Listed applications include measurement of cable fault locations using the time-domain function, which determines distances to cable faults and impedance mismatch points. The MS4662A's S-parameter test set enables simultaneous measurement of amplifier forward and reverse direction transmission. The segment limit test supports filter pass/fail judgment for complex characteristics with subtle slope fluctuations not detected as ripples, while the target data search function assists filter 3 dB bandwidth measurements and ripple searches. The time domain gate function is useful for SAW filter measurement by eliminating test fixture leakage signals.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every used unit we sell is inspected and functionally verified in-house by qualified technicians before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. That combination of held inventory and hands-on verification of pre-owned instruments lets us match the right network analyzer, in the condition you need, to your application.
The MS4661/MS4662 family comprises three 100 kHz to 3 GHz network analyzers built on a common 50 Ω measurement platform with a high-speed synthesizer and DSP. All three share the same time domain analysis, limit-test functions, target data search, PTA automation capability, and GPIB control, so the core measurement workflow is consistent across the line. The buyer chooses the model whose test set and display match the application.
The MS4661A and MS4661E carry a built-in transmission/reflection measurement test set (bridge) for antennas and passive devices such as filters, attenuators, switches, and cables. The MS4662A carries a built-in S-parameter test set, adding measurement of active devices with differing input and output characteristics and simultaneous forward/reverse direction measurement with a single connection.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with pre-owned-matched pricing. Select the model that fits your test-set and display requirements, then choose the condition and configuration on that model's page.
The models differ in three documented ways: test set, display, and test port connector. The MS4661A/E measure S11 and S21 via the built-in transmission/reflection bridge, while the MS4662A measures the full S11, S21, S12, and S22 set via its S-parameter test set. For display, the MS4661A and MS4662A use an 8.9 inch 640 x 400 dot color LCD, whereas the MS4661E uses an 8.9 inch 640 x 400 dot EL (monochrome) display.
Test port connectors also differ: the MS4661A/E use a GPC-7 connector and the MS4662A uses an N-J connector, both on a 50 Ω system. Calibration coverage scales accordingly, with the MS4661A/E supporting 1-port OSL and 1-pass 2-port routines and the MS4662A adding full 2-port and 1-path 2-port calibration. Refer to the comparison table for the per-model directivity, match, and frequency-response figures.

Important: Option 01 (MS4661/4662-01) provides a high stability reference oscillator with an aging rate of ≤±2 x 10⁻⁸/day.
Important: This is a custom-made product (the datasheet marks the MS4661A, MS4661E, and MS4662A, and the family, with '*: Custom-made product').
Important: Test port cables and calibration kits are not included as standard accessories. Standard delivery includes only the power cord, fuse(s), and operation manuals (plus a list band on the MS4662A); the appropriate test port cable and calibration kit for the connector type must be ordered separately from the Optional accessories.
Recommended pairing: use an Anritsu calibration kit (3750 SMA/3.5 mm, 3751 7 mm, or 3753 N-type) with a matching test port cable (J0629, J0729A, or J0730A) for OSL calibration at the test port.
