The Anritsu MS4624D is part of the Scorpion MS462xx family of Vector Network Measurement Systems, a complete RF measurement platform spanning 10 MHz to 9 GHz. The Scorpion family is offered in three frequency ranges — the MS4622x to 3 GHz, the MS4623x to 6 GHz, and the MS4624x to 9 GHz — with each frequency range available in multiple port configurations to match the device under test. The MS4624D specifically is the 4-port, 9 GHz configuration, designed to characterize balanced and differential components alongside conventional single-ended devices.
Anritsu positions the Scorpion as a single instrument capable of testing the full range of wireless components and systems, including antennas, isolators, filters, duplexers, couplers, SAW filters, baluns, amplifiers, mixers, power amplifiers, tower mount amplifiers, and multiport integrated components. With a single connection to the device under test, the instrument can perform S-parameter measurements, time domain and distance-to-fault testing, compression and 20 dB power sweeps, harmonics from the 2nd through the 9th order, noise figure across 50 MHz to 6 GHz, intermodulation distortion at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th orders, and group delay through frequency translation. Typical applications described by the manufacturer include handset front-end module characterization, base station infrastructure components, mixer and amplifier development, and multiport SAW filter and integrated circuit production test.
ValueTronics International stocks and tests Anritsu Scorpion-family vector network measurement systems at our 20,000 square foot secure facility at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every {{CONDITION}} MS4624D that ships from our facility is inspected and performance-verified by our technicians before it leaves the warehouse, with condition documentation describing the specific unit a customer will receive. Customers ordering through ValueTronics work directly with a named contact who handles the transaction from quote through delivery and post-sale support, rather than navigating an anonymous catalog process.
Anritsu Corporation is a Japanese precision measurement company with roots extending to 1895. The Scorpion vector network analyzer line traces in part to Wiltron Company, a US RF instrument maker that Anritsu acquired in 1993, which gave Anritsu critical RF and microwave measurement technology and a North American commercial presence. Anritsu has continued to develop the platform independently as part of its broader RF and microwave measurement portfolio.
The Scorpion MS462xx family is organized along two independent axes: frequency range and port count. The frequency-range axis is denoted by the second digit of the model number — MS4622x covers 10 MHz to 3 GHz, MS4623x covers 10 MHz to 6 GHz, and MS4624x covers 10 MHz to 9 GHz. The port-count axis is denoted by the trailing letter — the A suffix denotes a 2-port transmission/reflection configuration, B denotes a full-featured 2- or 3-port S-parameter configuration, C denotes the configuration used in the ME7840A Power Amplifier Test System, and D denotes the 4-port balanced/differential configuration.
Within each frequency range, Anritsu describes the family as upgradable: a customer can specify only the frequency range and port count required today and add capability later as requirements change. The A-family targets economical transmission/reflection production test, the B-family adds 2- and 3-port S-parameter measurements with embedding/de-embedding and arbitrary impedance, and the D-family extends to 4-port balanced/differential measurements with the full mixed-mode S-parameter matrix.
Each pre-owned Scorpion configuration listed below is its own product page with condition-matched pricing and inventory. The comparison table on this page is intended to help locate the configuration that matches the frequency range and port count required for the application; the linked product pages provide the unit-specific detail.
The MS4624D is the 4-port, 9 GHz configuration at the top of the Scorpion range. Among the family, it is the configuration that supports the full set of balanced and differential measurement features described in the datasheet — including mixed-mode S-parameters across the complete D1D1 through C2C2 matrix, 4-port AutoCal-based calibration, and time domain analysis on 4-port devices — while also providing the widest frequency coverage offered in the family.
Across the family, the differences are primarily in frequency coverage and port count rather than in measurement architecture. All configurations share the same measurement speed, the same source power capability, the same AutoCal compatibility, and the same general feature set within the limits of their port count. Stepping from a 2-port to a 3-port or 4-port configuration adds standard mixed-mode S-parameter measurement, true 3- or 4-port calibration, and the full embedding/de-embedding feature set as documented in the datasheet.
Stepping up in frequency range (3 GHz to 6 GHz to 9 GHz) extends the upper measurement frequency without changing the lower limit of 10 MHz. Customers should refer to the comparison table that follows for a side-by-side view of the configurations and select the model whose frequency range and port count match the device under test.
