The Anritsu MD8475A Signalling Tester is a bench-top base station simulator designed to test and evaluate mobile terminals across worldwide cellular systems. The platform supports LTE FDD, W-CDMA/HSPA, GSM/GPRS/EGPRS, and CDMA2000 1X/1xEV-DO standards through a combination of installed signalling unit options and simulation software. A built-in high-end PC running Windows 7 Ultimate hosts the control software, eliminating the requirement for an external control computer in the test setup.
The MD8475A is positioned for R&D evaluation of mobile handsets and modules that must operate across multiple global network standards. Documented use cases include testing triple-system LTE/W-CDMA/GSM/GPRS terminals, hybrid LTE/CDMA2000 terminals, packet communications and application performance, voice and video call behavior, SMS and MMS messaging, and handover and CS Fallback scenarios between LTE and legacy systems. The platform also supports access-class control and emergency call testing — scenarios that are difficult or impossible to evaluate on live networks.
ValueTronics International maintains its inventory of complex signalling and protocol test instruments — including the MD8475A platform — in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Cellular signalling testers carry significant configuration complexity: the installed signalling units, software licenses, and option strings determine which network standards and features a specific unit actually supports. Direct physical custody of inventory at our Elgin facility allows our technicians to verify installed options against listing descriptions before shipment, rather than relying on prior-owner representations or drop-ship pass-through. For an instrument family where the difference between two units of the same model number can be tens of thousands of dollars in installed software value, that verification step is the substantive difference between a documented professional purchase and an unverified marketplace transaction.
Anritsu Corporation is a Japanese precision measurement company with roots extending to 1895. The North American RF and microwave product portfolio relevant to the MD8475A's heritage was significantly shaped by Anritsu's 1993 acquisition of Wiltron Company. Anritsu remains an independent public company headquartered in Atsugi, Kanagawa, Japan.
