The Anritsu MT8820B Radio Communication Analyzer is a single-platform Tx and Rx test system covering 30 MHz to 2.7 GHz. When the appropriate optional measurement software and hardware are installed, a single MT8820B unit performs the major Tx and Rx characteristic measurements for W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA Evolution, GSM/GPRS/EGPRS, CDMA2000 1X, CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A, PHS/Advanced PHS, and TD-SCDMA/HSPA terminals.

The analyzer is used for basic transmitter and receiver measurements of cellular and PHS mobile terminals across the supported air interfaces. Standard test items include transmit frequency, modulation accuracy, transmit power, power versus time templates, spectrum emission mask, adjacent channel leakage power ratio, occupied bandwidth, and bit error rate. HSPA-specific measurements include HS-DPCCH power control, code domain power, HSDPA throughput by ACK block counting, and HSUPA E-DCH throughput derived from E-TFCI reporting. The platform also supports end-to-end packet data transfer tests, video phone tests between two units (or one unit with Parallelphone), real-time voice encoding and decoding, and audio Tx/Rx measurement through dedicated AF connectors.

Brand Heritage

Anritsu Corporation is a Japanese precision measurement company with origins dating to 1895. Its cellular and RF test portfolio was significantly expanded by the 1993 acquisition of US-based Wiltron Company, which brought network analyzer and signal source technology into the Anritsu line.

Important: Maximum input level at the Main port is +35 dBm. The MT8820B-004 hardware supports IS-856-0 (1xEV-DO Rev. 0) RF measurements only and does not support IS-856-A (1xEV-DO Rev. A); the MT8820B-005 hardware supports both Rev. 0 and Rev. A. The MT8820B-004 and MT8820B-005 cannot be installed simultaneously.Important: The MT8820B-004 hardware supports IS-856-0 (1xEV-DO Rev. 0) RF measurements but does not support IS-856-A (1xEV-DO Rev. A) measurements. The MT8820B-005 hardware supports both IS-856-0 (1xEV-DO Rev. 0) and IS-856-A (1xEV-DO Rev. A) RF measurements.Important: The following measurement hardware supports the Parallelphone measurement option: MT8820B-001, MT8820B-002, MT8820B-003, MT8820B-004 (or MT8820B-005), MT8820B-007. All the measurement hardware can be installed simultaneously. However, the MT8820B-004 and MT8820B-005 cannot be installed simultaneously.Important: For terminal connectivity, contact your Anritsu sales representative.Important: The MT8820B-012 Parallel Phone Measurement Hardware requires the MX882010C Parallel Phone Measurement Software as well as installation of the required measurement software and two measurement hardware units.Important: Manufacturer Test Suite does not support real-time processing functions, such as external packet data and video phone tests.Important: Measurement software and dedicated measurement hardware options must be installed for each communication system to be tested (W-CDMA, GSM, CDMA2000, 1xEV-DO, PHS, TD-SCDMA, etc.). The base MT8820B mainframe alone does not perform protocol-specific Tx/Rx measurements without the appropriate option set.Recommended pairing: the Parallelphone Measurement option (MT8820B-012 hardware with MX882010C software) requires two identical measurement hardware boards plus one measurement software license to enable simultaneous testing of two terminals from one chassis.
