The Amprobe PM55A is a compact precision digital multimeter built around two signature features: AutoTect and VolTect. It is described as a shirt-pocket sized meter, only 3/8 inch thick and weighing less than 3 ounces, that delivers full multimeter functionality in a form factor far smaller than typical bench or field DMMs. Despite its size, it is fully autoranging and offers nine different measurement functions.
A digital multimeter measures fundamental electrical parameters — voltage, current, resistance, and related quantities — making it one of the most universal diagnostic tools on an electronics or electrical bench. The PM55A covers AC and DC voltage, AC and DC current, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode test, and continuity with beeper, and adds non-contact AC voltage detection. Its AutoTect feature directs the meter to recognize whether it is measuring AC volts, DC volts, or resistance based on the test point the leads are connected to, with no user interface step required.

Amprobe is a long-established test-tools brand that became part of the Fluke family of brands following its acquisition by Danaher Corporation in 2007; the Fluke group subsequently moved under Fortive Corporation when that company was spun off from Danaher in 2016.
