The Agilent 8514B is an S-parameter test set designed for vector network analyzer systems operating from 45 MHz to 20 GHz. It provides the signal separation, switching, and reference sampling hardware required to perform full two-port S-parameter measurements, with 3.5 mm male connectors at both test ports and a 50 ohm nominal port impedance.
The 8514B is built around two test ports configured for transmission and reflection measurements across its full frequency range. Each test port carries a nominal operating power level of 2 to -6 dBm depending on band, and the test ports support DC bias up to 500 mA and 40 Vdc maximum for measurements that require an applied bias on the device under test. The rear-panel RF input connector is a 3.5 mm female with a maximum input power rating of +16 dBm.
The 8514B originated within Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business. HP spun out its test and measurement instruments as Agilent Technologies in 1999, and that electronic measurement business was subsequently transferred to Keysight Technologies in 2014. Instruments carrying the original HP brand, the Agilent brand shown on this datasheet, and current Keysight branding share the same engineering lineage for this product family.
