The Agilent E5072A is an ENA Series network analyzer that measures across a range of 30 kHz to 4.5 GHz or 8.5 GHz, depending on configuration. It is offered as a 2-port instrument with a configurable test set, available as Option 245 (30 kHz to 4.5 GHz) or Option 285 (30 kHz to 8.5 GHz), and provides corrected and uncorrected S-parameter measurement of components and networks.
A network analyzer characterizes how a device or network transmits and reflects signals across frequency, reporting parameters such as transmission and reflection magnitude and phase, directivity, source and load match, and group delay. The E5072A supports full 2-port calibration with both mechanical calibration kits and electronic calibration modules, and includes a 36-pin Centronics Handler I/O port for connection to a handler system, supporting automated measurement workflows.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, giving buyers a single source that physically controls the instruments it sells. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
Agilent Technologies was established in 1999 as a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business. In 2014 that electronic measurement business was separated again to form Keysight Technologies, which is why instruments of this era carry Agilent branding.
The E5072A is offered in two configurations distinguished by their upper frequency limit. Option 245 provides a 2-port configurable test set covering 30 kHz to 4.5 GHz, while Option 285 provides the same 2-port configurable test set extended to 8.5 GHz. Both share the same ENA Series platform, display, connectivity, and calibration support.
Beyond the frequency-range option, the analyzer can be ordered with the Option 1E5 high-stability oven timebase, which tightens the 10 MHz reference to +/-1 ppm versus the +/-7 ppm standard timebase. The core measurement architecture, test ports, and interface complement are common across configurations.
Each pre-owned configuration below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the option that matches your required upper frequency limit and timebase stability, and review that page for its specific pre-owned availability.
The primary difference between the two options is the upper frequency limit: Option 245 covers 30 kHz to 4.5 GHz and Option 285 covers 30 kHz to 8.5 GHz. The comparison table that follows lays out the frequency span and related option details for each configuration.
Dynamic-range, output-power, and uncertainty figures in the specifications are organized by frequency band, so the practical difference between the options is whether the 6 to 8.5 GHz bands are available. Buyers should match the option to the highest frequency they need to measure, and consider Option 1E5 where tighter source-frequency stability is required.

Important: Test port input damage level: +26 dBm or +/-35 VDC.
Important: Line power: 90–264 VAC, 47–63 Hz, 350 VA max. A third-wire ground is required.
Important: Calibrated network measurements require a compatible calibration kit or ECal module (85032F or 85092C for Type-N, 50 Ω; 85033E or 85093C for 3.5 mm, 50 Ω); these are listed and ordered separately and are not part of the base analyzer.
Important: Specifications apply at 23 ºC (± 5 ºC) and 90 minutes after the instrument has been turned on, unless otherwise stated.
Recommended pairing: use the 85032F (Type-N) or 85033E (3.5 mm) calibration kits, or the 85092C / 85093C ECal modules, for full 2-port calibration as characterized in the specifications.
