The Agilent 86108B Precision Waveform Analyzer is a plug-in module designed for use with the 86100C/D Infiniium DCA family of oscilloscope mainframes. It is engineered for accurate characterization of high-speed electrical designs operating from 50 Mb/s to 32 Gb/s, providing a reference-grade measurement solution that combines wide-bandwidth sampling, integrated hardware clock recovery, and a precision timebase in a single module.

The 86108B is applied to jitter analysis, eye diagram measurement, and waveform characterization on high-speed electrical communication systems and components. Specific applications include reference clock and phase-locked loop (PLL) characterization — including loop bandwidth and jitter transfer measurements — and analysis of closed eye diagrams downstream of lossy backplanes through use of the Auxiliary Clock Recovery Input. The module supports PLL bandwidth and peaking measurements for designs including PCI Express (Gen 1/2/3) when used with a compatible jitter source.

Brand Heritage

Agilent Technologies was spun off from Hewlett-Packard in 1999, taking with it HP's test and measurement business.
