The Agilent E7400 A-series is a family of 50 Ω EMC analyzers consisting of the E7401A, E7402A, E7403A, E7404A and E7405A models. Each is a spectrum analyzer configured for electromagnetic compatibility measurement, sharing a common architecture while differing primarily in upper frequency coverage. An EMC analyzer of this type captures and characterizes radio-frequency energy across a tunable span, displaying amplitude versus frequency so that emissions from a device can be measured against limit lines.
These analyzers carry a quasi-peak detector that displays the quasi-peak amplitude of a pulsed radio-frequency or continuous-wave signal, with an amplitude response conforming to Publication 16 of the Comite International Special des Perturbations Radioelectrique (CISPR), Section 1, Clause 2. The instruments' own conducted and radiated emissions comply with CISPR Publication 11/1990 Group 1 Class B. Dedicated EMI bandwidths of 200 Hz, 9 kHz, 120 kHz and 1 MHz support measurement work referenced to CISPR pulse responses.

Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business was spun out as Agilent Technologies in 1999, and that test and measurement line was subsequently transferred to Keysight Technologies in 2014. Instruments branded Agilent date from this intermediate era of the same product lineage.
The E7400 A-series brings together five EMC analyzers built on a shared 50 Ω spectrum-analyzer platform: the E7401A, E7402A, E7403A, E7404A and E7405A. The models share the same EMI measurement feature set, including the CISPR quasi-peak detector, the dedicated EMI bandwidths, and a standard preamplifier, so the measurement workflow is consistent across the line.
What separates the models is principally how high in frequency each one tunes, along with related amplitude and input-handling differences. Selecting within the family is largely a question of the highest frequency a given emissions task requires, balanced against the broader amplitude and option configuration each model supports.

The clearest difference across the family is upper frequency coverage: the E7401A reaches 1.5 GHz, the E7402A 3.0 GHz, the E7403A 6.7 GHz, the E7404A 13.2 GHz, and the E7405A 26.5 GHz. Several models add dc-coupled and ac-coupled low-frequency extensions through Option UKB, and the higher-frequency models tune in multiple LO harmonic mixing bands.
Input handling also varies: the E7401A provides a 0 to 60 dB input attenuator, while the E7402A, E7403A, E7404A and E7405A provide 0 to 65 dB. Peak pulse power tolerance reaches +50 dBm on the E7402A through E7405A versus +30 dBm on the E7401A, and weight increases with the higher-frequency models. Important: Specifications apply within the one-year calibration cycle with AUTO ALIGN [ALL] selected, after the analyzer has been stored a minimum of 2 hours within the operating temperature range, turned on for at least 5 minutes, and Align Now RF has been run once every 24-hour period.
